Subject: EG Daily... something random
Written By: woops on 08/02/08 at 6:30 pm
Some weeks ago, I found a 45 of EG Daily's "Mind Over Matter", which was suprisingly catchy and her singing's OK.
Strange since I'm more familiar with her as a cartoon voice over artist (ie "Rugrats", young Mumble on "Happy Feet"), but who knew...
Not sure if she had any hits...

That song was in the movie Summer School starring Mark Harmon. I just found this posted on imdb.com
When the students take their final exam near the end of the film, the song "Mind Over Matter" plays and
is performed by E.G. Daily. The song was originally recorded by Debbie Harry (of Blondie), but due to legal
conflicts E.G. Daily replaced her on the final soundtrack. However, Blondie's "Rapture" plays in the background
during the strip club scene.
I was a fan of EG Daily's long before she was the voice of Tommy Pickles in Rugrats or Buttercup in Powerpuff Girls
I first noticed her as Smokey on the TV series Fame. Then she popped up in a series of movies from the 80s. Including Streets of Fire (YAY)
In one of those movies, like Just one of the guys or something similar, she is the lead singer of the band that plays for the dance at the end of the film.
Odd but true. A local comic book shop had her in to sign autographs and it was all these little kids with their parents getting their cartoon pictures signed and me with my EG Daily 12 inch single. ;D She was surprised to see it. I don't think she expected a real fan to show up! ;D

When she was known as Elizabeth Daily, she was in a few movies, including my favourite 'Streets of Fire'
She had a 1986 single called 'Say It, Say It' which was a minor hit on the US Hot 100 and reached the Top 40 in Canada

EG did a great track called "One Way Love (Better off Dead)" in 1985. She starred in the movie with the same title too.
Here it is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhUK4vLXd-A

I really enjoy both "Mind Over Matter" and "Say It, Say It". The video to "Say It, Say It" is a really cute parody of Nabokov's Lolita...

She's Pee-Wee Herman's girlfriend in his Big Adventure!

I like this one, Love In The Shadows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCsQQJF5Y4g
I also posted it in the favorite 80's dance songs thread.

Yes, she was "Loryn." Don't ask me how I know that.
