Subject: Unknown 80s movie with Happy Birthday song on soundtrack
Written By: bee bee hornet on 07/07/08 at 12:43 am
There is an 80s movie with a song that goes, "Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday!" and then something like, "If I were you and you were me.." and I think the singer might be Siouxsie and the Banshees or Josie Cotton. The movie might be "Sixteen Candles", but I'm not sure and it's driving me nuts! Ring any bells? Let me know. dd

As Patty and Gis said, it's definitely Altered Images and from the Sixteen Candles soundtrack. It's played during the independent study scene where Samantha fills out the "sex survey" and tries to pass it to her friend, but Jake Ryan intercepts the survey after it falls on the floor and finds out Samantha's really into him... one of my all-time fave movies! :)

Well, you've got two songs there, both featured in Sixteen Candles: The aforementioned "Happy Birthday" by Altered Images and "If You Were Here" by the Thompson Twins, which is featured prominently at the end of the film.
:)
