Subject: Acid Washed Jeans

Hi Everyone.  ;D

I hope you don't think I'm strange for saying this, but I actually kind of like the way acid washed jeans looked.

^^Just for the record, that ain't me! LOL!^^

I was wondering, do you think that type of denim will make a comeback, or should it just stay in the closet with the mothballs?

(I even saw singer Fergie in a pair of tye-dyed ones!)

Let me know what your opinion is.

Thanks  ;D

I once owned a couple of pairs of acid-washed jeans. They were Palmettos, I think. Oh, and I had these acid-washed shorts, too. I thought they were pretty cool back in those days. They aren't my favorite look from the 80's, but I'll always associate acid-washed jeans with approaching adolescence and late 80's fashion.  :)

This color doesn't seem so bad but the blue ones were awful!  I say leave 'em in the past.  (Ditto for MC Hammer pants).  :D

These things were beyond just a regular fad. Everybody wore these things in the late '80s, even little kids. Heck, even I had a pair when I was like 5 or 6 years old.

And yeah, some things are best left in the past ;D

You know, it wasn't acid washed, but I have a similar memory around the same age. I remember I accidentally ripped this pair of jeans I had once, when I was about 6...and my mom telling me it actually was considered "cool". That was around 1987 or '88 which I consider THE absolute peak of both those styles. ;D It's funny that I accidentally did something in style without even knowing it, lol.

Yeah, the acid washed look was around up into the first half of the '90s or so. It seems like fashions linger around the longest, since people who like it are reluctant to give it up. It's kinda like how you still sometimes see people with blonde highlights now, even though it was a 1999ish thing.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for your opinion. I like the way the jeans look and have a pair of faded--not acid washed--jeans. But the thing I wonder about is, what do I pair a pair of blue acid washed denim with? I'm tired of just wearing a white top, can I safely put a color with it, or will I look like an "Club MTV" rejecyt?
A friend and I are going shopping soon, and I'm looking for ways to revie the 80s in my warddrobe without looking costumey.  8)

I fondly remember acid wash jeans.  Had a pair that color also.  Of course, the jeans back then were not low rise like those in the picture.

Acid wash stretch jeans should never be brought back.  Noooo.....the horror.

Ha, Ha!  Just realized I have a photo up on the "Decades Photos - 80's"  thread wearing a pair of acid wash jeans along with an acid wash jacket and black tube top.  And of course, sporting the ever popular Big Hair.  ;D

I hope not. That chick has NO butt whatsoever.

Acid washed jeans were cool for their time. They do make similar jeans these days (I forget what they're called) but they don't have as extreme a look as AWJ did.

Those jeans look SO uncomfortably tight.  Why do girls have to wear tight jeans?  For me, I don't want to feel the jeans touching my legs when I'm standing up.  I hate tight pants.  >:(

It changed the feel of the fabric too.  Those thing made me itch.  I had a few pairs of stone washed jeans, they were a bit more tolerable.  Whoever thought of acid washed jeans should be drug out into the street and shot. 8-P
