Not many acts today will even get close to topping Frank Zappa!
My guess he'd be over 300 million!

While I was searching YouTube for my favorite Zappa song, I found this video of this fantastic band from Italy with some excellent Zappa covers.

The first song on this video is my favorite Zappa song, but I probably can't repeat the title here.  ;D

Frank despised his audience. He thought that everyone should appreciate his music, even if the lyrical content was puerile and juvenile. But they didn't. Everyone was there to party. He didn't like freaks, hippies, or druggies, yet back during the Mothers days, this was the crowd that he preached to! (Check out the Freak Out! album)

(As an aside, Spinal Tap got the idea from Lick My L*** P*** from Frank's instrumental I Promise Not To C** In Your M****, which was also a very beautiful piece :) )

Zappa was a man of MANY contradictions and he was quite the hypocrite. But he was definitely a musical genius of the HIGHEST caliber. There will never be anyone like him ever again.

"First off, a Zappa thread needs to be in the multi-decades thread, unless you specify a specific era of Zappa."

I really dig Frank Zappa!  I was just listening to "Freak Out!"  One time I was giving some friends a ride back to campus in college and I had "Freak Out!" playing on the stereo.  They both independently went out and bought the album the next day.  Heck, I didn't even suggest it.  That's how great "Freak Out!" is.  The songs they hard were "Help! I'm a Rock," "It Can't Happen Here," and "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet."

Justy one of many happy Zappa memories.
