I just got the idea for this poll from hearing "What is Love?" on the xm radio 80s channel - that is my pick along with "Your Song" :)

Yay, Howard Jones! I voted other. My favorites are "Like To Get To Know You Well", "New song" and "Assault and Battery". Hell, throw "Dream Into Action" in there also.

Wasn't it called "New Song"? Howard Jones was my first ever cassette purchase back in the early 80s. I loved New Song!
My second choice would've been "Like To Get To Know You Well" but it's not on the list. :-\\

I would say New Song as first choice and then probably Things Can Only Get Better.
my friend Michelle and I did an a capella version of New Song which I always think about when I hear the song

I'm wondering if "New Song" was meant as the 2nd option in the poll...I didn't think he had a song called "Your Song" (that was Elton John).

Oops my bad! Guess I confused it with an Elton John song title - I'll go back to the poll and fix it. :-[

"Assault and Battery" appeared on a PETA benefit record (the name of which escapes me at the moment) back in '87. That was the first time I heard of PETA. The goal of the record was to raise awareness of the abuse of laboratory animals. I thought PETA was pretty cool then, but my opinion of the organization become contemptuous over the years.
Anyway, I chose:
"What is Love?" and
Other--"Elegy."
I saw Howie on his "Dream Into Action" tour in '85. He put on a great show.
Strange thing is I was gravitating to The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, and Sisters of Mercy at the time. Furthermore, I've had a lifelong loathing inspirational music (spiritual or secular), so what was it about Howard Jones I loved? I think it's because he was genuine. Yes, he really is like that!

I've always thought New Song had the catchiest synth riff of the New Wave era.
