Post 80s charts here!
As you wish...
This was Britain's first Top 20 singles chart of the 80s...it's dated 12 January 1980, but that was the 'publication' date...the 'compilation' date was a few days before...
1 Another Brick In The Wall - Pink Floyd (its last week at #1)
2 I Have A Dream - Abba (the 98th single off 'Voulez-Vous' and remarkably, the highest charted!)
3 Brass In Pocket - Pretenders (eventually the first 'new' #1 of the 80s)
4 Daytrip To Bangor - Fiddler's Dram (don't ask!)
5 I Only Want To Be With You - Tourists (Annie Lennox does Dusty!)
6 Tears Of A Clown - Beat (Two-Tone does Smokey!)
7 Please Don't Go - KC & The Sunshine Band
8 Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang
9 Walking On The Moon - Police
10 My Simple Heart - Three Degrees
11 With You I'm Born Again - Billy Preston & Syreeta
12 John I'm Only Dancing (Again) - David Bowie
13 Is It Love You're After - Rose Royce
14 My Girl - Madness
15 London Calling - Clash
16 Que Sera Mi Vida - Gibson Brothers
17 Living On An Island - Status Quo
18 Wonderful Christmastime (Bleh!) - Paul McCartney
19 Blue Peter - Mike Oldfield
20 I'm In The Mood For Dancing - Nolans
(Others are available on request for a reasonable fee! ;))

Same here! :o
I was at that 'awkward' age then (12 and a half!), but still felt compelled to buy Fiddler's Dram! ::)

Looking at the list, I did not buy any of the Top 20 then.

Not even 'The Floyd'?
I must admit, at the time I only had a very fleeting knowledge of them! (What do you expect from a 12 year old? :D)

I was then in my first year of married life and had other things on my mind.

If memory serves me correct "Ben" by Marti Webb was a charity record for Ben Needham, organised on That's Life with Esther Rantzen.

Right about the charity aspect (and Esther's involvement), but the tragic kiddie was Ben Hardwick...
He sadly died of liver failure earlier that year after undergoing a transplant...this was his favourite song...

That is it, Ben Hardwick.
BTW, Ben Needham is the boy that disappeared in Greece in 1991.
