I will paypal $20 to the first person who can provide me with the correct song title and artist of the song that contains the following lyrics:

Hi...this is Ladimystyk....That was a good try (Sergio Mendez), but this song was by a female artist who kinda sounded a lot like Patrice Rushin or someone in that vein. I am not sure if it was a group or a solo artist with a few background singers. It was a mid-tempo song...I guess you could say it was a dance song. I am sorry I did not include this info in my original post.
And I promise that if someone out there can tell me what song this is, you will get the $20. I have been looking for this song for ages, so $20 is but a small thing to pay for anyone who can help me. My goal is to have this song on my iPod before I die. (HAHHAHAHAHAHHA). (No apologies necessary. I would be suspicious too.)

Oh...and to answer the question as to why I did not google the lyrics.....(I almost fell out my chair)...I have been googling the lyrics for the past year or so. Nothing ever hits. I have NEVER not found a song I am looking for. NEVER. Except for this one. This one is my "white whale." Thus far, I have spent hours on the internet looking for info about it, called radio stations, gone to record stores singing it to anybody who looks knowledgeable about old school music, gone to RARE MUSIC record stores singing it, posted inquiries on several websites....and nothing.
But one one other website, there is a guy who is also looking for the same song. So I know I am not crazy. It does exist!

Well, I live in the U.S. and that it where I heard it. It used to play on stations like WBLS and KISS-FM back when KISS was a more R&B oriented station.

now that's dedication! karma for your effort... since its a female artist from the 80s I will check some of my more obscure 80s cds maybe its on one of those bad compilation cds...the ones where i only know one song .... maybe it found its way on one of those...

Thanks for all this. I have been looking for the title as well. I had the Sergio Mendez cassette with that song in it and it struck a chord in me during a long train ride to Pisa. Its in the same disc that had 'Never Gonna Let You Go'. Its not as easy to locate a copy, especially in CD form.

The album was Sergio Mendes 1983. It has a Brazil release and some of those sites sell it. You may be able to get it cheaper if you search some Argentina sites. Thanks for posting this what a nice way to end the night.

If it is his song, which it sounds like from what other people have said, it might be worth researching him to see which female artist did a cover of it.

Some of the sites only provide the cover (with mostly bad reviews). I've got a friend going to Brazil next week so their mission, should they chose to accept it, is to find the CD.
