Subject: The 80s Soundtrack Thread
Written By: whistledog on 10/15/07 at 5:19 pm
There are some soundtrack threads kicking around already, but I thought why not start fresh. Reading posts in the PPP got me thinking about 'Streets of Fire' and just how much I love that soundtrack and all it's songs. So what are your favourite soundtracks and/or soundtrack hits ?
I will list mine in a forthcoming post ...

^I've got the 'Who's That Girl' soundtrack.
It seems like so many of the most famous soundtracks came from the 80's; Footloose, Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, Flashdance, and, er, many others.....

I actually liked it least of all the John Hughes movies but it was the soundtrack I loved the most! Turn to the sky is such a cool tune!

Can a movie get any more depressing..?
Times Square sent me into a blue funk for two weeks...
It's just so...real...
Yeah, I own the DVD but I store it in a far corner and keep a wide berth...

That also had a third hit: 'Lady Lady Lady' by Joe Bean Esposito peaked at US #86 in 1983

welll, yeah, I know what you mean.
I saw some Australian film from '82 the other night...it's a musical but it's not- about some red-haired chick that wants to be famous and her cousin helping her..but the songs are all stuck in my head. I heard them once and still remember the words.
maybe it was called Starstruck? Not a good film, not well-made, but very new wave and that's all I need.

I rented 'Times Square' off Netflix after reading your posts, and just got done watching it. Iliked it, but I didn't really understand what was going on half the time. I was really confused by what exactly was happening...Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough.
It reminded me of the movie 'Foxes', withe Jodie Foster, that came out the same year.

Did you ever see it? If you haven't, I reccomend it.
I'm going to rent 'Smithereens' next.
Sorry to get off topic, BTW.

Oh, I love this movie! It had such a great late-70's feel to it, especially with the lighting used. This is one of my favorites from Jodie Foster's teen years.

I love movies that have a late 70's, early 80's feel, too. That's why I rent so many movies from 1977-1983.

Me too, especially tv movies. The late 70s / early 80s is my magic time... things seemed so sunny, light, breezy and carefree (probably cos I was a little kid, but I'd like to think it was that way in general). ;)
