Liked it? I LOVED IT!!! It has a big online cult following. I have all the dvds. The miniseries was just as good. Shame a toyline never ensued.
The guy who fathered Elizabeth (the Starchild ;D) wasn't the guy from That 70s Show. You do mean Brian the Youth Leader don't you?

I have several of the comic books too... I think I'm only missing two of them

Ah yes, I forgot about the doll. I hate how the alien lizard face is so tiny in order for the human face to look it's normal size. ;D
And good ole South America with their knock-off merchandising.
Here's a resourceful person who custom made their own V figures...

I remember when V was popular, but I only ever saw it in bits. Actor Michael Ironside was in "V", and he is a really great actor. Most of his roles often show him as scary or villanous to the point where I like to think of him as the Canadian version of Christopher Walken
All countries have that one actor who is known for creepy and scary roles ...
America has Christopher Walken
United Kingdom has Steven Berkoff
Canada has Michael Ironside

Not Brian the youth leader. It was a deadpan grisley older, soldier, fellow, who I thought, was like elizbeth's Grandpa maybe? He was bald like Red from That 70's show. He was going to ram some spaceship,
and sacrifice himself, and elizabeth kept screaming NO! No! Then he did, and the spaceship blew up, and that was the last we saw of him.
Hmm doesn't ring any bells.
Supreme Commander John perhaps? ;D

It must be Ham Tyler - who Whistle mention earlier. He's Canadian. But I don't think he sacrificed himself in V.

I just found out there's a book coming out that's continues the V story from the first mini-series (the creator of the show had very little to do with the 2nd mini-series and the tv-series. ) called V: The 2nd Generation. It's supposed to be 20 or so years after they first came. I'm hoping we will get a mini-series out of this new book ;D
Here's a link to the book if anyone is interested...

This is another of those "Cult Classics" that I absolutely love. I not only have the original miniseries, but I also own the second miniseries and TV series on DVD. I even remember when I first heard about it.
On Van Nuys Blvd just north of Victory Blvd, there was a large billboard. In what was probably one of the original cases of "Guerrilla Marketing", it and many others suddenly had a poster with an "Visitor" holding his arms around 2 kids, with the caption "The Alien Visitors Are Our Friends". I remember walking past this every day on the way to school, and being puzzled by it.
About a week later, there was a huge V painted across the middle of it. No explanation, and it really got people talking. It was about a week later that a slash banner was added to one of the corners, saying to watch out for the premiere on NBC at a future date.
I loved the series, but always hated how it ended with a cliffhanger. The second season was cancelled, and it never continued. There have been attempts to revive it for over 20 years now, and it looks like it may finally happen. All of the main cast has even agreed to appear in the new movie if it does ever happen.

i have a love/hate relationship with V.
you see, i had my one and only serious operation (knee, my ACL) the week this aired.
may 8, 1984.
or was it 2 weeks?
anyways, i was in the hospital from sunday nite until saturday morning (back in the 80s, knee operations arent so quick and simple these days... lol)
so i watched the entire thing, granted, half the time i was medicated do i dont even remember much of it. just remembered i watch it. ;)

I was a "V" fan.
I think this show was a bit ahead of it's time, like "Max Headroom".
This scenario is far more believable than "X-Files", or some of those trumped up films that came out.

I do too... every time I see David Packer I get angry because I think he holds some responsiblity in what happened to Dominck Dunne (at least according to the E True Hollywood Story)
Dominck Dunne was first cast to play Robin. She and David Packer went to her place to run lines, her ex boyfriend showed up angry they stepped out onto the porch and argued. She either ran or he dragged her next door and he started beating and then choking her to death. (According to E!THS) Instead of calling 911 David Packer called a friend and left a message that said "If I die tonight here the name of the man who killed me!" David Packer then ran from the house to save himself. COWARD! I mean yeah get out of there but hell if you have time to call someone why not call the police?!?! >:( UGH - have you seen him lately? It looks like the guilt has ridden him hard too!

Hydrogen, the chemical element with chemical symbol H and atomic number 1. With an atomic weight of 1.00794 u, hydrogen is the lightest element on the periodic table. Its monatomic form (H) is the most abundant chemical substance in the universe, constituting roughly 75% of all baryonic mass. Non-remnant stars are mainly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state. The most common isotope of hydrogen, termed protium (name rarely used, symbol 1H), has a single proton and zero neutrons.

It looks like the thread had it's title changed from 'V' to 'h' and at the same time the original post was altered, so now we will never know.

V was a tv miniseries 1983 ... that evolved into a short lived TV show (1984) that spawned a new tv show which lasted two seasons from 2009-2011

I don't think the new series was shown here in the UK. The original mini series was a big hit - I can still remember dashing home to watch it after being out with friends.

I did not like the new series very much and stopped watching around the time Jane Badler reprised her role as Diana... I should give it another try just to see that.... and do what Robby does and watch the whole thing miniseries first, then the tv series, then the new series... but I don't know when I'll have time to actually do it
