While we're on the topic of XTC, you've gotta check out this promotional video for Oranges & Lemons. This is hysterical.

I love "Generals and Majors" as well as "Mayor of Simpleton", but I chose "other" because you failed to include another of their hits off of Oranges and Lemons, entitled "King for a Day", which is a great song.

I went with "Life Begins at the Hop". Still my favourite XTC song. Here in Canada, both it and "Making Plans For Nigel" did not become hits until 1980

I knew there was one or two I was forgetting. "King For A Day" is indeed awesome 8)

There are so many good ones to choose from, I find it impossible to vote for just one. My favourite 2 would have to be "Making Plans For Nigel", and "Generals And Majors".
Of course, the group They Might Be Giants also had a little fun, making a song called "XTC Vs. Adam Ant".
XTC versus Adam Ant
Content versus form
Fighting for their place in rock and roll
There is no right or wrong
Just when you think it's finished
With XTC on top
Ant music, like a phoenix
Flies back up the charts
XTC versus Adam Ant
Only one will survive
Beatle-based pop versus new romantic
History will decide
XTC versus Adam Ant
I can't tell you why
Even the singer from Bow Wow Wow
Can't make up her mind
XTC versus Adam Ant
Time is marching on
XTC versus Adam Ant
There is no right or wrong
There is no right or wrong
There is
No right
Or wrong

I picked Dear God but No Thugs in Our House is a great comment on the Skin Head culture and parents/society ignoring bigotry and societies ills.
