I know Tony Carey was a member, but any further info. on this group? Also, didn't Carey have a solo hit around '83 or so? The song escapes me.

Tony Carey was a member of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow in the mid 70s.  He formed Planet P in the early 80s, released 2 albums "Planet P" (1983) and "Pink World" (1984) and had 1 hit with "Why Me?"

As a solo artist, Tony Carey charted 4 hits ...

"Why Me?" is a great song, spacey synths and a great electro-reggae hook!

Me too!  1983 was my peak year for MTV and the Billlboard Hot 100.  That's why I was glad Rhino Records recognized 1983 was a special year for pop music.  It was the zenith of New Wave/New Romantic music in the pop music media.  The height of the second British Invasion.  These styles had been percolating since the late '70s.  In 1983 we had songs as great as Talking Heads "Burning Down the House"  the Fixx "Saved by Zero," and DMR "Come on Eileen" making the top 10!  Boy, that didn't last long!  My interest in Top 40/MTV waned starting in January of '84--literally, and made precipitous drop that summer.  That's when I started buying Depeche Mode records!
