There are so many genres and sub-genres of '80s music, sometimes it almost feels endless
Here's what I like, followed by 3 examples of bands/artists I like from each
mainstream pop (madonna, prince, hall and oates)
electro (cybotron, freestyle, mantronix)
industrial (ministry, nitzer ebb, a split second)
freestyle (expose, company b, will to power)
goth-rock (siouxsie and the banshees, bauhaus, xymox)
alternative rock (the cure, the bolshoi, cocteau twins)
synth-pop (depeche mode, alphaville, propaganda)
new wave (duran duran, billy idol, oingo boingo)
synth-dance (pet shop boys, erasure, new order)
euro-dance (fun fun, radiorama, sandra)
hi-nrg (dead or alive, lime, bobby orlando)
jazz-pop (swing out sister, curiosity killed the cat, breathe)
house (technotronic, inner city, bomb the bass)
dance-pop (bardeux, pretty poison, jody watley)
thrash metal (vio-lence, testament, anthrax)
death metal (death, possessed, morbid angel)
progressive metal (crimson glory, fates warning, watchtower)
new wave of british heavy metal (tygers of pan tang, diamond head, iron maiden)
hair metal (skid row, cinderella, def leppard)
arena rock (foreigner, journey, reo speedwagon)
As you can see, I like a bit of everything. I'm curious to see what everyone else is into, what genres they detest, etc.

Not a big 80s fan, prefer stuff like the Smiths, XTC, R.E.M., Pixies...^ you seem to have listed almost every genre that existed in the 80s, lol.

arena rock (Foreigner, Van Halen)
hip hop (LL Cool J, Run DMC)
Detest: Though around since the dawn of time, country music
And gangsta rap (except some Public Enemy), though became more popular in the 1990's
