I do....especially 'Santa Claus and his Old Lady', Tripping In Court, and Let's Make a Dope Deal... and Earache My Eye.."The world is coming to an end, I don't even care...as long as I can have my makeup and my orange hair...and I don't even care if people think I'm funny...cause I'm a big rock star and I make lots of money, money, MONEY..."

I like 'Sister Mary Elephant'..reminds me of how rowdy my high-school driver's ed class was...
I know Cheech y Chong might not be a younger person's idea of comedy, they probably sound dated to anyone born in the mid '70s or 1980s...

No. Stoner comedy does nothing for me.

One of the biggest misconceptions of "Cheech" Marin & Thomas Chong's comedy is that it's only about drugs. Not so.
For example, "Basketball Jones" pokes fun at the sport.
"Blind Melon Chitlin" takes a poke at the music industry.
"Buggery On the High Seas" is a stab at the movie industry.
"Ralph & Herbie" is life through the eyes of 2 dogs.
My personal favorite, "World Wrestling" tags on professional wrestling, and the gimmicks used.
So, you see, it's not all about getting stoned. You want that- go watch "Half Baked". http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/15/violent5.gif

For films, I recommend:
Things Are Getting Tough All Over
Nice Dreams
For comedic bits, I recommend:
Still Smoking (aka Cheech & Chong In Amsterdam 1982)

I have "Things are Tough All Over" (no "Getting" in the title) and the "Corsican Brothers".

I understand there is a chance that they will reunite one final time in about 2 yrs.
My hearing is, they're trying to work out the details.

Liked their albums. Didn't like the movies after "Up In Smoke" (which was, no joke, a friend's all-time favorite film. ;D)

I must disagree with one film- "Still Smoking".
This film shows the last vetiges of a great comedy duo, and gives us insight to the comedic genius of 2 men who parodied & sneered at the system.
This film was brilliant, in the sense that:
1. They were shown in one of their final live performances, which is great for those who didn't get to see them in person.
2. They were pigoenholed as "strictly stoner humor", and they said, "OK! You want it- you got it!"
They made a film where their 'ultimate dream' of a never-ending party got the best of them!
Now, tell ME that's not comedic genius!

Hmmm...didn't see that one.
Did it have Stacey Keach?
Never did like him, even as Sgt. Stedanko.

One of the biggest misconceptions of "Cheech" Marin & Thomas Chong's comedy is that it's only about drugs. Not so.
So true. This is really evident around the time of "Get Outta My Room", where there was very little drug content.
Increasingly, the duo started to run into tnesions between the two because of the drug content. Cheech wanted to move more into "straight" humor, while Tommy wanted to continue what they had always done. Finally it got to the point where they could no longer work together.
Both "Stripes" and "Born In East LA" were originally intended to be C&C movies. But because of increasing tensions between the two, this never happened. Stripes was recast with Bill Murey in the lead, and Cheech went on to do "Born" on his own, with very little drug content.
Around 1992, Cheech made the decision to not do any more drug related roles. This is when he did the "Cheech The Schoolbus Driver" CD, and started to appear on various children's shows and movies. Since he has moved onto other roles, even playing a cop on Nash Bridges. Meanwhile Tommy is still playing the same stoner roles he started with over 30 years ago.
The only time they have performed together in the last 20 years was for an episode of South Park, where they played themselves. However, their voices were recorded seperately, and they did not actually meet during the recordings.
My amusement of C&C movies is much like my enjoyment of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. I am the square, who looks in and laughs at the antics of a couple of looser stoners. But of the two, Cheech has developed into a fine dramatic actor.

I have these Cheech & Chong movies:
Up in smoke, Next movie, Things are tough all over and Still smoking
I recently looked up the lyrics for Earache my eye, I never heard the whole song myself(only what was on Up in smoke), so I didn't know how the rest of it went, good thing is, I at least heard most of it.
My momma talkin' to me tryin' to tell me how to live
But I don't listen to her 'cause my head is like a sieve
My daddy, he disowned me 'cause I wear my sister's clothes
He caught me in the bathroom with a pair of pantyhose
My basketball coach, he done kicked me off the team
For wearin' high-heel sneakers and actin' like a queen
The world's comin' to an end, I don't even care
As long as I can have a limo and my orange hair
And it don't bother me if people think I'm "funny"
'Cause I'm a big rock star and I'm makin' lots of money
money, money, money, money, money, money
Ahhh! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
I'm so bloody rich! Ha ha ha ha
I own apartment buildings and shopping centers! Ha ha ha ha
And I only know three chords! Ha ha ha ha

Tommy Chong was, at one point in the 60s, a member of Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers...a soul group notable for being (I think) the first Canadian act to be signed to Motown records (although Bobby Taylor himself was American...)

YOU GET A %$#@ JOB BEFORE SUNDOWN OR WE'RE SHIPPING YOU OFF TO MILITARY SCHOOL WITH THE %$#@ FINKLESTEIN %$#@ KID! SON OF A %$#@!
Not only were Cheech and Chong hillarious, but they used some funny actors besides themselves to make us laugh. To anybody who remembers Strother Martin in old westerns, seeing him flip out at the beginning of Up In Smoke was classic. Stacy Keach & Mills Watson as Sgt. Stedenko. and Harry were classic too.
