I agree with about 1/2 of the list.
These people go by record sales, don't they?
I happen to like at least 25 of the songs they picked.
Really, they should hire competent people who know what is, when they make up these things!!!

I love "Kiss", "Electric Avenue", "Mickey", "Walking on Sunshine", "Tainted Love", "Manic Monday", and "Come on Eileen." The rest I'm not too fond of..."Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" is, in my opinion, one of the worst bubblegum pop songs ever to hit #1. People forget how much trash there was in the '80s.

That dude must not like 80s music that much. Many of those songs in there are awesome.
Though he should put Electric Avenue at #1. That song can sometimes be too painful to listen to

Good thing Deborah Gibson isn't on the list :)
Though I like about 20 of the songs on the list and a few weren't that bad...
Where's "Oh Sherrie" from Steve Perry or more garbage from Journey? ???

1. USA For Africa "We Are The World"
I basically like all of these (*embarrased grin* ;D), but I will concede that this is the type of 80s music that, for better or worse, seems like it hasn't endured very well.
New wave, certain heavy metal, early/old school rap, and Alt rock seems like the stuff that has come out the best. Basically that list is a mix of soft rock, AC pop, power ballads and arena rock (Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Journey, Christopher Cross, Foreigner) which collectively, seems to be viewed as "cheesy".

Everytime it came on the radio we would yell out which person was singing. You knew you had heard the song TOO many times when you could recite the order of the singers from memory :)

I love these lists from friends but even from strangers they are interesting. Here's what I thought of this worst of list -- creating my own would mean dredging up memories I worked so hard to repress that it's not worth it.
If I don't comment it means I don't remember the song (which could be because I never heard it or could be because I succeeded in blocking the memory of the pain). I lot of what I don't like on this list I don't even think of as 80s music but rather leftover 70s formula rock.
80. Lionel Richie "All Night Long" -- can't think of anything by Lionel Richie I like
79. Rick Astley "Never Gonna Give You Up"
78. Billy Joel "We Didn't Start The Fire" -- one of his weakest
77. Huey Lewis & The News "Stuck With You" -- liked them enough to buy it then and can't remember why now
76. Queen "Another One Bites The Dust" -- so overplayed I can't remember if I liked it at first or not
75. Michael Sembello "Maniac" -- like it for dancing
74. Mr. Mister "Broken Wings"
73. Eddie Rabbit "I Love A Rainy Night" -- crap
72. Georgia Satellites "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" -- crap
71. Lionel Richie "Say You Say Me" -- Lionel Richie again
70. Prince "Kiss" -- I really like this one, better than most of his hits but not nearly so well as Peach and Erotic City
69. Night Ranger "Don't Tell Me You Love Me"
68. Milli Vanilli "Girl You Know It's True"
67. Cutting Crew "Died In Your Arms" -- liked it OK
66. Bob Seger "Like A Rock" -- not one of his best and there were a few that were worth remembering
65. Chicago "You're The Inspiration" -- dreck
64. Lionel Richie "Hello" -- L.R.
63. Styx "Too Much Time On My Hand"
62. Peter Wolf "Lights Out"
61. Poison "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"
60. Paul McCartney with Michael Jackson "Say Say Say"
59. Rockwell "Somebody's Watching Me" -- liked it; it's on my 80's cliches playlist -- songs that couldn't have happened in any other time and that I really like if not for themselves then for what they evoke
58. Eddie Grant "Electric Avenue" -- also on cliches playlist
57. Total Coelo "I Eat Cannibals" -- cliches list
56. Wall Of Voodoo "Mexican Radio" -- clickes list
55. Christopher Cross "Think Of Laura"
54. Culture Club "The War Song"
53. Eddie Murphy "Party All The Time"
52. Paul Hardcastle "19" -- on my best of 80's playlist
51. Corey Hart "Never Surrender"
50. Beach Boys "Kokomo"
49. Musical Youth "Pass The Dutchie"
48. Journey "Who's Crying Now" -- crap and reminds me of the 70s crap I like least from highschool and college years. Same for almost everything by Boston, Styx, Foreigner, etc.
47. Air Supply "All Out Of Love" -- see 48
46. Christopher Cross "Ride Like The Wind" -- see 48
45. Jermaine Stewart "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off"
44. Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen" -- can't decide if it's crap or if it belongs on the 80's cliches list. Always been back and forth on this one.
43. Foreigner "I Want To Know What Love Is" -- was "our song' in disastrous first marriage. That should teach me.
42. Billy Joel "Uptown Girl" -- he had better decades
41. Marty Balin "Hearts"
40. Chaka Khan "I Feel For You" -- OK
39. Phill Collins "Sussudio" -- hated it with a passion from first hearing
38. Belinda Carlisle "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" -- see 39
37. Don Henley "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" -- love this one. on my dance/rock list although some people don't call this rock
36. Patrick Swayze "She's Like The Wind"
35. The Bangles "Manic Monday" -- like it but not as much as Hero Takes a Fall
34. New Kids On The Block "Hangin' Tough"
33. Soft Cell "Tainted Love" -- cliche playlist
32. Willie Nelson & Julio Inglesias "To All The Women I've Loved Before" -- I love Willie but not this one
31. Mr. Mister "Kyrie"
30. Stevie Wonder "Just To Say I Love You" -- on my best of Stevie playlist

76. Queen "Another One Bites The Dust"
70. Prince "Kiss"
44. Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen"
10. Katrina & The Waves "Walking On Sunshine"
Those songs should not be on that list.
"Walking on Sunshine" has to be the catchiest song i've ever heard, it's Great.
"Another one Bites the Dust" is Awesome.
"Kiss" is also very catchy and is easily, to me, Prince's best song.
"Come on Eileen", I shouldn't have to explain this one, another catchy song and catchy hook.
3 of those 4 songs were actually #1 hits in America. How on earth could a #1 hit be considered one of the worst songs anyway? The worst songs of the '80s are usually songs that weren't good enough to reach the charts....because they were BAD.
I don't know why people would continue listening to a song so much to the point that it reaches #1 on a music chart, yet it happens to be one of the worst songs ever....where is the logic there?

This decade would be a good example of #1 songs that are really bad...
Though every decade had it's share of awful songs/artists. It's also in the matter of taste. :)

There are lots of #1 hits suck. The best songs are the ones that don't reach the Top 40

49. Musical Youth "Pass The Dutchie"
I have to totally disagree with that list. And, "Pass the Dutchie" was a classic great song. I am guessing that the guy who made that list doesn't come even close to having the same musical taste I have.
