Subject: FAVORITE 80's JUDAS PRIEST ALBUM!

Written By: Erick on 06/08/06 at 9:38 pm

British Steel (1980)
Point Of Entry (1981)
Screaming For Vengeance (1982)
Defenders Of The Faith (1984)
Turbo (1986)
Ram It Down (1988)

I choose Defenders Of The Faith! I am 17 and I have been really into them in the last year.I bought my first Priest albums Defenders of the faith and painkller in December. Before I liked them but I wasn't really a die hard fan. The only songs I knew by them were breaking the law, living after midnight, You've got another thing comin', and painkiller. My second favorite Priest album is Screaming For Vengeance! I now have all their albums except for jugulator and turbo which I don't care for. ANY OLD SCHOOL PRIEST FANS ON HERE?!

What about my favorite, "Stained Class" (1978). This was the album the parents of Nevad youths tried to blame for one youth's suicide, and one youth's attempt--the grisly results of which are depicted in the cartoon below. I would post Mr. James Vance's real suicide attempt aftermath photo, but it might cause too big of a fright. You can find it, just google images "James Vance," screen out the Marine vets and businessmen,  and look for the guy with the head bandage and the caved-in face

This happened in 1985, the height of the Tipper Gore/PMRC hysteria. Tipper weighed in about the tragedy that befell the to young men because of evil rock music lyrics, but the legal case--even in conservative Nevada--went in favor of Judas Priest. This trial was one of the most egregious attempts to fob-off society's problems onto an easy target--a heavy metal band. It was not the first time...and it wouldn't be the last...Columbine High anybody?

I'd say either "Screaming for Vengeance" or "Defenders of the Faith".

Well, British Steel is the superior album with Screaming For Vengeance coming in a close second.
