I have the CD, lol. It was created by the Louis Clark orchestra and also features 'Hooked on Can Can' and 'If you knew Sousa (and friend's) too.
It's one of those rare things that you would never be able to replicate in the 00s.

Quite so...very much a product of its time...
I used to have the 12 inch of it (don't laugh!) and my Dad was a bit of a fan of it too...
Trouble was, he wasn't aware that British 12 inch records play at 45rpm (obviously thought it was an album!)...so when he played it, the thing would 'drone' on for most of the afternoon!

have you heard CLASSICAL MUDDLEY BY THE PORTSMOUTH SINFONIA i had tears in my eyes when i first heard it.
please check it out and let me know what you think !!!
;D ;D ;D :D :D :D ;D ;D
just found this :-
Portsmouth Sinfonia
Classical Muddley
These had already been recognised as the worst orchestra in the UK (or was that the world), and now they were cashing in on the medley craze with this - erm - piece of music. It was very much like RPO's "Hooked On Classics", except they played it all wrong. It sounded awful (like Les Dawson playing the piano badly for those who remember), but that was the whole point. It was a comedy record without any words, yes, very funny.

If it was just the two of us in an elevator car, then I'd have to say "yes."

Is THAT what that was called?
I always that it was "Music To Silently Wet Your Pants By- A Comedic Potpourri".
Maybe that's why I used to laugh so hard that I always needed to use the bathroom.
-Pavlovian reaction, I guess.

I remember liking that though I haven't heard it in years. Subsequently they came out with a "Hooked On Swing" that put Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and the likes into a similar medley.
On a similar note does anyone remember the Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band (something like that)? They made Beethoven's 5th Symphony into a disco/rock tune.
