Subject: Preppies in the '80s

Wasn't "preppie" sort of a subculture of well-to-do '80s teenager (and those imitating them) through the '80s? I think the whole IZOD style came back around 2002 as part of '80s nostalgia and ended up overtaking '00s teens.

Are Preppies the archetypical popular Jocks/Cheerleaders? Cos I think this sub-group really reached its peak in the 80s, when high school groups were really defined.

The Preppy look of the '80s:

For boys:

Le Tigre and Izod shirts.
pleated pants
hair that was neatly cut.
Sweaters tied around their neck or waist, usually in pastel colors.
Loafers

For girls:

Plaid skirts (sort of like the Catholic school girl look)
Izod and Le Tigre shirts as well.

I knew a girl that was a real preppy.  She wore the uniform and used the "Preppy handbook" as a guide.  She was an original in our highschool-
the first on the wave of the trend.

The oughties preppie wears Izod and Abercrombie and Polo shirts and sweaters, popped collars, pearls, hairbands, cargo shorts (for boys), fancy belts (for boys), super-polished white K-Swiss or IZOD sneakers, those little caps with the brim going up, khakhi capris, and hair ribbons. Sort it by gender. Basically, they're a cult of people who wish their life was The O.C., play lacrosse and listen to glam rap, and are mini-yuppies.
