Subject: Religion and Sex in the '80s

The '80s had an obsession with combining religion and sex. Madonna, Prince ("Darling Nikki" and "Let's Pretend We're Married"...actually, most of his work), the Eurythmics and Annie Lennox, and the Talking Heads ("Take Me to the River") definitely took this a long way. Now, what do you think this was caused by?

Conferring an esoteric or even mystical connotation to religion was nothing new. Jim Morrison was a specialist at in back in the late 60s, with his visions of 'golden copulations' and his comparison of coitus and climax to a spiritual experience. But if you're talking religions incography, then I'm not really too sure.
