If I was a teenager in 1988, I'd say Taylor Dayne or Jody Watley ;) :D

I recall alot of my male friends getting ho under the collar about Lita Ford in her Kiss me deadly video. Susan Hoffs from the Bangles was popular too. I guess there weren't that many women in metal to get excited about really.

Personally, for me, it depended on which medium you spoke of:
Movies- Kaki Hunter, Jennifer Jason Leigh, or Lesley Anne Warren
Music- Sheena Easton, Joan Jett (naturally!), Kim McAuliffe (the leader of Girlschool)
TV- Dian Parkinson, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Jackee Harry
Other- Wendy O. Williams, Nicola Bryant ('Peri' from Dr. Who), The ZZ Top Girls
