I know both versions quite well, but I prefer the Oldfield version.  Family Man just sounds so much better when sung by a woman.  I loved it 8)

I didn't even know there WAS another version besides the Hall and Oates one until just now reading your post. Since I've never heard the other one, I'd have to say that the Hall And Oates version would be my favorite. And it's a remake besides! Since the other version charted the year before, interesting. I thought it was an original Hall & Oates hit. I'm a huge Hall and Oates fan, so I doubt I would like the other one. Well, maybe I shouldn't say that, I might like it if I heard it, but I'm sure the Hall And Oates version would still be my favorite.

Here in Canada, the Hall and Oates cover was not released.  Instead the track "Italian Girls" (from the H20 album) was released and became a near Top 20 hit here.  I believe this is due to the fact that the Mike Oldfield original was a Top 30 hit here, was still a popular hit at the time

"Other".

Nitzer Ebb, Family Man, from 1991's LP "Ebbhead".

What, why's everybody looking at me like that?
