Subject: Say No to Drugs Song
Written By: Sally Gal on 05/22/06 at 1:20 pm
I am trying to locate a song that came out in the late 1980s about saying no to drugs. I think the song was only in Jacksonville Florida but I'm not sure. Is there anybody that knows the actually title and artist of this song?? I have searched and searched the internet and can not find it. I know the chorus goes something like this, " Just say no, say no (clap, clap) say no to drugs." PLEASE help me find this song.

Not sure whether this is what you're looking for...
And a version of it did indeed hit the British Top 10...
Commendable subject, but it became one of the most hated British hits of the 80s...

I thought that too, Paul, but she said it was in Jackson, Florida . . . Who knows . . . Maybe Grange Hill had an effect over there. ;D
However, yes, it was a very risible song . . .

Ah, but it started life out in the US before the Grange Hill brats got their hands on it, y'see...
Not sure who did the US version...surely it couldn't have been worse than ours!

Ah I see . . . Now hang on, was that to do with Reagon's 'War on Drugs' thing because if it was I can piece it together better.
As for their song, anything could be better than the pseudo hip style we opted for, lol.

According to the article, it was something to do with Lady Reagan...
(Perhaps she sang the American version...)
But I'm pretty sure that the song is American in origin...

And that video! Aarrrgh!
(Visions of 'Ro-land' sort-of dancing...yeeech!)
