I want to change my vote from 85 to 83 solely b/c that's the year my youngest brother was born.

I love 'em both, but I'd go with 1985 - that was basically 1984 part II, and also because I have vague memories of it. Music peaked in 1984/85, movies were really good and I just like the overall "feel" slightly more.
Although '83 was more iconic and a "changing" year.

1985 -- it had Live Aid, which was much cooler than I remembered after I found a bunch of clips on You Tube.

I like '83 alot, '85 was sort of a dull year, honestly. Though '84 was one of my true favorites-Purple Rain, Like a Virgin, etc. '83 had songs like "Sweet Dreams" and "What a Feeling" hit number one.

For music, it definitely has to be 1983...
But for events going on in my life, 1985 was a pretty good year! :)
