Just a few movies I recall seeing in the 80's are:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (I definetly remember this one!)
Oliver & Company
Twins
Kindergarten Cop
The Land Before Time
Short Circuit (probably one of the first movies I ever saw in the theatre)

The first movie I can recall seeing at a theatre was 'The Last Starfighter' at a Drive-In back in 1984. Or should I saw almost saw. I fell asleep during the movie, but later saw it again when it came out on video
I can't remember all of the ones I saw in theatres, but here are a few that I do ...
E.T.
Masters of the Universe
Follow That Bird
The Secret of NIMH
Twins
Big
and last but not least, I made the mistake of seeing Batman on opening day, and boy was it a packed theatre. Remember that scene when the Batwing flies up to the moon, and makes the bat symbol? The audience in the theatre screamed like you wouldn't believe :o

No way could I name them all. We owned a Drive-In so I saw movies there every weekend, and during the week I was given tickets to every film because we were in the industry. So I went most days after school to the local cinema and also most evenings to local drive-ins. I would estimate I saw 160-250 movies a year (and count some as multiples cos I went to many of them several times - specially the Star Wars and Indiana's).

We have a few drive ins in Perth until recently, and one of my regrets is I never went to one. I think the last one closed about 1999, when I was still a bit too young. Ah well, never thought of it back then...

My family lived in a small town in the '80s and I was still just a tiny person, so going to "the City" (meaning Winnipeg, where I live now) always felt like a big deal. I watched tons of movies as a kid due to my teenage brothers renting them all the time, but I didn't see very many in theatres because we didn't go to the city that often. These are the few that I do remember though:
Short Circuit (1986) --> almost certainly the first movie I ever saw in theatres, when I was 2 or 3
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Oliver & Company (1988)
The Land Before Time (1988)
Ghostbusters II (1989)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
The Little Mermaid (1989) --> a crystal clear memory, and one of my favourite movies as a kid

E.T.-twice (each time with someone different)
Return of the Jeti
Annie (yeah, yeah, I know-it was actually the first date with my ex. ::))
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (I actually went to see that by myself)
Ghostbusters
Short Circuit
The Breakfast Club
Footloose
Top Gun
Beetlejuice
Night Shift
Trading Places
A few of the Rocky movies (can't remember which ones-they are all alike to me).
Poltergist (I don't know what scared me more, the movie or the friend who we went with who started screaming-she got many people screaming-but I didn't. ;D She also was crying during E.T. Yeah, she was trip to go to the movies with.)
The only movie I ever walked out of was one called "Don't Go into the Woods" and my advice is don't go to see it. :P
I'm sure there were more but that is all I can remember.

Movies I remember seeing:
Rocky IV (Just barely remember)
Friday the 13th Part VI (Just barely remember) (And saw it at the Drive-in, too, I remember)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (Drive-in) and a double bill with Meatballs III (But like that other double bill we went to in 1990, we left before the second movie was over, lol.)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Drive-in)
Man, I wonder why I didn't go to more movies in the 80's?

I saw a lot of movies in the cinema, our mom would take us occasionally. The one that sticks out the most in my mind is when we were on vacation, and one night we decided to go to the movies and we saw, "Gremlins". My parents were not too impressed with it, and it scared my sister Brandy! LOL! :D ;D

What do you mean "until recently" ? Until 1986 Perth had more drive-ins in the city & suburbs than any other city in Australia.
The Galaxy Drive-In in Kingsley is still going and has never closed.
