Subject: Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)

Does anyone remember the song "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)"?
It was a popular disco hit in 1980 for the group Ottawan. It reached #2 in the UK and initialy became a hit everywhere but North America.
Here in Canada, we had our own version. In 1987, a Toronto based dance group called Sway covered the song for use in commercials for Club Med resorts. As a result, it shot into the Canadian Top 10, and prompted a release of the Ottawan original, which in 1988 finally became a hit in Canada.
After all is said and done, the song in any version never became a hit in America, but it apparently is a popular song to dance to at weddings
For your listening pleasure, here are sound clips of both the disco (Ottawan) and dance (Sway) versions ...

I remember it! First time I heard it was in 1983 in Club Med... they had a show on and all the guests had to do this stupid dance... you can imagine the moves involved. ;D I always remember that.
Anyway, I also heard it about a month ago whilst at the supermarket! Weird hey!

Another 1980s classic! 8)
Let's see - Ottawan made it to #2 in 1981 with that song. They're French, but I bet you knew that already. Isn't there a part in the song where they're using French lyrics..? I seem to remember something like "Haut les mains!"...
Anyway, if this song didn't make it in Canada in 1980/1981, I wonder if their other single ("D.I.S.C.O.") did...
This is from memory:
She is D (delerious / delicious (?))
She is I (irresistable)
She is S (supersexy (?))
She is C (....?)
She is OoooooooOOOOOoooooooooooh! ;D
"D.I.S.C.O." was a #3 hit in 1980 in Dutch Top 40.

As far as I know, Hands Up was the only Ottawan song to crack the Canadian charts. I used to have the "D.I.S.C.O." 45 (a UK copy that I found at a flea market), but I lost it :\'(
N-Trance did a successful rap/dance version of it in 1997. Here is the music video for the N-Trance version. *Warning* It's very cheesy ;D
