What would it be?

That's a tough one. A lot depends on what type of mood I am in at the time you ask. If I'm listening to new wave stuff, hair bands, or rock at the time, you will get totally different CDs. I have made quite a few 80s compilation CDs. I usually name them something from the 80s like Rubik's Cube, Fiero, Max Headroom, New Coke, etc. But if I were to make a 12-song 80s CD at 11:45 pm tonight, these songs would be on it...
1. Heartbreak Beat - Psychedelic Furs
2. One In A Million - Romantics
3. Superman - REM
4. Two Hearts Beat As One - U2
5. Feel It Again - Honeymoon Suite
6. Positively Lost Me - Rave-Ups
7. Shelter - Lone Justice
8. Kayleigh - Marillion
9. Two Sides Of Love - Sammy Hagar
10. When You Close Your Eyes - Night Ranger
11. I Wanna Go Back - Eddie Money
12. Stone In Love - Journey
If you asked me tomorrow, you would probably get a completely different list. 8)

Oh my gosh, your taste in '80s is so similar to mine. I have The Killing Moon, Head Over Heels, West End Girls, and two Wham! (wham rap and go-go).
Are you by any chance a Donnie Darko fan? ;)

Like others here, I'd be chopping & changing this selection frequently, if possible. Some of these I've whacked in 'cause they're relatively obscure/to be slightly controversial ... but I like them. The one's with the asterisks are one's I've often played again and again on their ending, 'cause I think they're so excellent. With 2 *, I reckon you should download them.
1) Broken Wings - Mr.Mister
2) Electric Avenue - Eddy Grant
3) Change in mood - kids in the kitchen
4) Boys of Summer - Don Henley
5) Uncertain Smile (single version) - The The *
6) Don't need a gun - Billy Idol
7) Maid of Orleans - Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark
8) That Certain Smile - Midge Ure
9) The Day before you came - Abba
10) Second Chance - .38 special * *
11) Everybody's gotta learn sometime - Korgis * *
12) Lost in love - Air Supply
