Subject: Madonna's '80s Videos
Written By: velvetoneo on 02/24/06 at 12:17 pm
Which of Madonna's '80s videos do you like the most? I personally am caught between "Vogue" and "Express Yourself", from that very sleek, dark late '80s-early '90s period when that was popular. She really is a cultural leader, she always has the pulse on culture before it happens.

Vogue actually was a 90s video, not an 80s video. She released it in 1990, if I'm not mistaken.
My favorite is probably Like a Prayer. She always looked better as a brunette (which is her natural color).

I consider "Vogue" as '80's since most music from 1990 was still '80's in terms of pop culture and the fact Madonna "jumped" after the awful "Justify My Love"
My favorite Madonna videos would be "Borderline", "Material Girl", and "Lucky Star".

Yeah, but I don't think that's what the OP intended. I think he wanted videos in the 80s, and Vogue was not a video in the 80s, no matter how 80s the song sounded.

I kind of liked the "Borderline" video the best :)

I have to say 'Papa Dont Preach, Lucky Star, Material Girl' were her best videos. The worst to me were "Like A Prayer, True Blue, Who's That Girl and Dress You Up' :-X

Definitely "Open Your Heart"... truly a visual masterpiece of a music video, directed by the brilliant Jean Baptiste Mondino and featuring Madonna at her most achingly beautiful... :)

Borderline. She looks amazing in it.

I also think "Open Your Heart" is really cute, with Madonna dancing with the little boy and the classic burlesque setting. She never looked more beautiful than she did in the late '80s, IMO. Now she looks a bit too skinny.

My fav is Like a Prayer.
She looks beautiful + HOT in it. She has that great late 80s hair do, (like said above, it's a shame she doesn't show her natural hair color too often) plus the video itself is interesting to watch.
I think the religious themes explored in it almost make Madonna seem wholesome. The part where she is dancing with the black choir makes you want to get up and dance yourself.
