Reed Nielsen and Mark Pearson were an American west coast pop rock duo whose country music flavoured 1978 debut album was aptly titled "The Nielsen and Pearson Band". It was sadly not a big success, but determined, they released a pop-rock follow-up album in 1980 titled "Nielsen / Pearson" and scored what would be their only American top 40 hit with the wonderful song If You Should Sail which reached #38 on the Billboard Pop Charts in September of 1980

In August of 1981, they had a follow-up hit with a cover of the Walker Brothers classic The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore. It became their second top 40 hit in Canada and also reached #56 on the Billboard Pop Charts. A third album titled "Blind Luck" was released in 1983. It was not a success, so the duo parted ways. Currently, Nielsen works as a song-writer in Nashville and has penned many hits for other artists

Both songs are great, yet very hard to find and still remain two of my all-time favourite songs of the 80's

"If You Should Sail" is awesome smooth rock from the early 80s. Glad you mentioned it!
