Subject: What 80s Albums Did You Play To Death?
Written By: 80smuzikhead on 01/06/06 at 5:05 am
Were there any 80s albums that you played so many times that you swore you never wanted to hear them again?
For me, there were a few:
Revenge -Eurythmics
Man Of Colours -Icehouse
Colour By Numbers -Culture Club
True Colors -Cyndi Lauper
Incidentally, all of the above, I have taken out again, played and thought, Hmmm, that's not so bad after all..... ;)

Didn't have *too* many albums, and the ones I did have were 70s mostly.
I know I played the heck out of my Queen "The Game" album. It was spinning the day of my accident at school where this girl and I were spinning each other around and around holding hands and she let go and I went flying into a desk and broke my two front teeth. lol Quite memorable.
Also played my three Abba albums to death (even though one of the three came out in the 70s)
Abba - The album
Abba - Voulez-Vous
Abba - Greatest Hits vol. 2

Wow, what a cool site...my very first post here :D
Cool topic with all very good songs listed!!! But the only song I know that I played to death was Ahas "Take On Me". I remember after playing it to death to hear the another version of the song, which was the "warp version" after the tape finally met its match and started to get all worn and stretched. "Take on Me" is still my very favorite song of all time.
Long live the 80s!!! 8)

I sometimes think I'm the only one who really didn't care about albums. I preferred singles. Even in the early 80's, I'd buy a 45 if I could... and if I couldn't find it, I'd be upset that i had to buy the whole album just for one song.
So the few albums I played alot... were mostly Erasure ones (The Innocents, Wild, Wonderland, Circus, etc) and the Peter Schilling album with Major Tom, Terra Titanic, City of Night, etc... and Thriller, of course.

I used to play track 1 on Fleetwood Mac's Tango In The Night when I was five or six because I saw the Warner Bros logo on the back of the CD case and I liked their cartoons such as Looney Tunes and Animaniacs. It's a CD in my parents' collection and I also listened to Abba's The Visitors in the car a lot when I was 10 or 11.

Yes, there was one album I played to death, and it was Standing On A Beach by The Cure.
Now I really enjoy listening to it occasionally.
