Remember these?
Tenpole Tudor- I loved that song 'Wunderbar!'
Chiliwack-They were canadian, song by them was 'My Girl', no relation to the Temptations' original.
Vandenberg-'Burning Heart' the song was terrific!
The Polecats-Saw them on Classic VH-1, they did that song'Make a circut with me'
Bus Boys- I loved 'The Boys are back in town' from the film '48 Hours' and that other song 'American Worker'
The Look- They did a version of 'You can't sit down'
The Call- I loved their music.

I don't know about SAGA being a forgotten artist. In America, 'On the Loose' was their only top 40, but here in Canada, they had many hits. Their 1980 hit It's Time (Chapter Three) and 1987 hit Only Time Will Tell are wonderful songs :)
Here's a few forgotten 80's hits:
Industry - State of the Nation
Michael Stanley Band - He Can't Love You
Michael Stanley Band - Falling in Love Again
Henry Paul - Keeping Our Love Alive
Gamma - Right the First Time
10cc - Don't Turn Me Away
Charlie Dore - Pilot of the Airwaves
Barry Manilow - Oh Julie (I've never seen this song on any Barry album or CD)

A few months ago I was listening to the 80's Channel on XM radio, and they played a song that I hadn't heard in at least 20 years and had completely forgotten about: "Who's Behind The Door" by Zebra. Definitely one of the great forgotten nuggets of the decade.

I thought of some more:
Eria Fachin - She was a Canadian singer who was a one hit wonder in America with the 1988 club hit Savin' Myself. She had a few further hits in Canada, but following the release of her debut album, she was diagnosed with cancer and spent the next few years treating it until her death in the mid 90's.
Ali Thomson - remember his 1980 hit Take A Little Rhythm?
Martin Briley - Another one hit wonder with 1983's The Salt in My Tears
Marty Balin - ex-Jefferson Starship member who had 3 solo hits in the early 80's, two of which went top 40: Hearts and Atlanta Lady
Al Corley - His 1986 hit Square Rooms was quite popular in the clubs
Fortune - No one probably remembers these guys. They had a great pop hit in 1985 called Stacy
Elisa Fiorillo - She shot to fame on the 1987 Jellybean hit Who Found Who. She had a few minor hits in the late 80's, and in 1991, reached the top 40 with the song On the Way Up

Franke and the Knockouts info? Here's what I know: The lead singer's name was Franke Previte. They had 3 popular hits in the early 80's:
1981 - Sweetheart
1981 - You're My Girl
1982 - Without You (Not Another Lonely Night)

As far as I know, they're still around. In 1990, they scored once again with Bakerman and in 2000 they released a remixed version of Sunshine Reggae. Don't know what they've been doing in the meantime, though. :-\\

The Blue Nile - They never had any success here, but I sure love their music! Lead Singer Paul Buchanan recently sang guest duet vocals on the song 'Sleep', which is going to be the new single by scottish rock band Texas :)
Animotion - They had three top 40 hits over here with 1984's "Obsession", 1985's "Let Him Go", and 1989's "Room to Move"
The Assembly - Never had a hit here, but the Feargal Sharkey sung "Never Never" is AWESOME
Belle Stars - Had 1 minor hit here with 1983's "Sign of the Times". Thanks to the 1989 film Rain Man, "Iko Iko" was given a release here and it hit the top 40
Blue Mercedes - "I Want to Be Your Property" was a #1 Hit on the Billboard Dance Charts
Bourgeois Tagg - Had 2 hits here, the only top 40 of which was 1987's "I Don't Mind At All". In 1990, Brent Bourgeois had a solo top 40 hit called "Dare to Fall in Love"

The funny thing is... BB & Q stands for Brooklyn Bronx & Queens, so I'd expect them to have had some success in US. On The Beat hit #13 over here in 1981 and Genie reached to #32 in 1985.
Elbow Bones & the Racketeers reached #15 in 1984 with A Night In New York.
Bang Gang's Street Music only reached #25 in 1982.
And finally, Barrabas hit #18 in 1982 with On The Road Again (nothing to do with the Canned Heat song) - but that may have hit European charts only.

Eddie Schwartz - He had 1 U.S. Top 40 hit called 'All Our Tomorrows' in 1982. He also wrote a bunch of popular hits for other artists

a forgotten 80's band. They were quite successful in the 70's.
Their debut album was released in 1973 and they released three
more by 1976.They were Mahogany Rush at this point,Frank Marino
added his name in 1977 and released a live album in 1978,one of my
favorites.I am surprised whistle dog didn't say something about this one

B Movie
I like the song "Nowhere Girl" by B Movie.
Ok, here are a few more that I would consider to be forgotten.. in some cases, for the best. Anyone remember:
Gene Loves Jezebel - I don't even remember their songs, just the stupid name.
Levert ("Casanova")
Dead Milkmen ("Punk Rock Girl") <---I like this song alot.
Robbie Nevil ("C'est La Vie" and "Back On Holiday")
Concrete Blonde ("Cold Part Of Town" and "Happy Birthday")
PiL ("Happy" and "What Friends Are For")
Cause And Effect (Depeche Mode Wanna-Be's)
Kon-Kan ("I Beg Your Pardon", "Puss In Boots")
And one that is truly "forgotten" to me, because even I can't remember the name of the artist.
Remember that song Peek-A-Boo: something like "golly jeepers, where'd you get those creepers, peepshow, creepshow, where did you get those eyes?"

Peek-A-Boo was by Siouxsie and the Banshees. They are still somewhat popular among those who still love that classic goth and alt rock of the 80's :)
Robbie Nevil is definately a forgotten artist. I really liked his 90's hit "Just Like You". It's actually the only song he did that I really liked alot. The others I could just tolerate, but only listen to them if they came on the radio and I was too lazy to change the station ;D

I didn't mind "Back On Holiday" although I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.. but "C'est La Vie" was annoying.
And thanks for the reminder on Siouxsie and The Banshees.. my mind had gone completely blank on that one!
I do see C'est La Vie on TV sometimes, but it's not a great of a song!
Speaking of Siouxise and the Banshees, what is the name of this SATB video, it has a closeup of Siouxsie and lava is pouring in the back

Concrete Blonde ("Cold Part Of Town" and "Happy Birthday")
I believe they were still around in the 90s. Joey springs to mind.
PiL ("Happy" and "What Friends Are For")
The only other song I remember by PiL is This Is Not A Lovesong, but that may not have been a hit elsewhere.

Here's a few forgotten 80's bands from the shores of Canada. Unless you are Canadian, you may not recognize any of these bands/artists ;D
Blvd - They had big 1988 hits with "Dream On", "Never Give Up" and "Far From Over"
The Arrows - They had hits in the mid 80's like "Meet Me in the Middle", "Never Be Another One" and "Heart of the City"
Graham Shaw and the Sincere Serenaders - They had a big 1980 hit called "Can I Come Near"
Footloose - With lead vocalist Tim Feehan, they had a popular 1980 hit called "Leaving For Maui"
Rational Youth - They had a great 1982 hit called "Saturdays in Silesia"
Idle Eyes - Had big hits in 1985 with "Tokyo Rose and "All Day"
Nancy Martinez - Freestyle artist who reached the Billboard Top 40 with the 1986 hit "For Tonight"
Billy Newton-Davis - Had a very popular hit in 1986 with "Right Beside You". His biggest hit was "I Can't Take It' in 1989
Brighton Rock - Their biggest hit was the 1986 metal ballad "One More Try"
Eye Eye - They had a big 1987 hit called "Out on A Limb"
Tu - Look-a-like sisters with their 1988 dance smash "Stay With Me"

Modern Talking - You're My Heart, You're My Soul
Dieter Bohlen & Thomas Anders reunited in 1998 and are still going strong (mainly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Sweet Sensation (UK Boy Band) - Sad Sweet Dreamer
??? That was 1974.... I believe the 8-men band had already split up when the 80s started. Anyhow, lead singer Marcel King died in 1995, so not much chance of a reunion there. Ironically, Marcel was the youngest member of the band.

I know who Modern Talking are, they're actually still well known in Germany!
They had re-united in 1998, but split up again in 2003

They split up again? I must've missed that. Well, they've always been more popular in their home country than in my country, though we're neighbours. ;)
Now whenever Modern Talking comes up, I immediately have to think of Bad Boys Blue, which was actually a complete clone. I believe they were produced by Dieter Bohlen. I know their only hit single in the Netherlands (You're A Woman) was written by Dieter, and could very well have been performed by Modern Talking. You couldn't tell the difference.

Now when I said "hit single" that was slightly exaggerated: You're A Woman only reached #30. Exit Bad Boys Blue...
Come Back and Stay - The Music Video
Very cheesy ;D

Modern Talking had split up the 2nd time because of differences, it says in their wikipedia entry
Speaking of Wikipedia entries, Peter Schilling's entry is in bad need of an update! I might register to update his entry!

Well, well, well.... who'd have thought? ::) Didn't they split up the first time over differences as well...? A bit of history repeating there.
And btw: can you think of any other reason for a band splitting up? ???

As long as we're tossing out the Bad Boys Blue collection... their only US chart entry was "Save Your Love." I've never heard the tune, though.
I remember when that one was popular on the dance charts. Around 1993 I believe?

Telling from reading their Wikipedia.com entry, I guess they did!
Another reason for a band splitting up: death of a band member!

I'ma Peter Schlling fan too-
I remember when my sister got me the Fehler Im System LP (import) for my b-day in the 80s...it was one of the best gifts I ever got!
I registered for Wikipedia and updated two things on his profile: Discography (added albums from 1993-2004) and added his real name (his real name is Pierre Schilling) and I might be working on my own profile page for Wikipedia :)

I have heard of Bad Boys Blue's "You're A Woman". If you take a listen to it, straight away you would think Modern Talking's "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" because it sounds alot like it. I'm from the UK they didn't release a single song over here. I bet i'm even the only person that has heard of there music and the band.
