Anyone here seen Dune (the David Lynch version, not the cable TV one)? It's probally one of the most strangest movies ever made.

Dune was a great movie. The only problem is that it is simply to long and complex of a book to simply condense it into even a 3 hour movie.
The miniseries was much more true, because it was able to take the time and explain all the people and the reasons they were how they were. I have all 3 in my video collection "the movie, the miniseries, and the sequal miniseries). And as good as the series was, Sting played the role far better.
Simply compare the way the characters delivered this one line:
Sting: I will kill you!
Series: I will kill you!
It was simply much easier to believe Sting was truely a psycopathic killer. The other guy was simply to pretty to be believed.

Believe it or not, there's a longer version on the movie than the one shown at the theaters. It was an unofficial release with an intro explaining why things were the way they were at the beginning of the movie. Also, lots of scenes that were dropped to make the movie shorter for the theater were added back in to this version. It's about four hours long and some scenes make more sense when they are complete.
Got this info (and a copy of the tape) from a friend of mine that is a doom freak. He's even got some of the props and concept art from the 80's movie.
