Subject: Cheap Trick - 80's
Written By: Marty McFly on 10/26/05 at 7:29 am
Just because (a) it was the first song of theirs I heard, (b) I love the 80's pop polish on this kind of thing, and (c) I also love power ballads, my choice is "The Flame".
But they have so many good ones - I've been listening to them alot recently, especially their often overlooked 80's albums from after 1980's Dream Police and before 1988's Lap of Luxury.
1986's The Doctor has some great stuff - I especially wanna give a shout out to "Are You Lonely Tonight". This is totally Cars like, down to the keyboards. Robin Zander even sounds like Ric Ocasek with that hiccupy vocal style. 8)

I had the '82 album 'One On One', it's VERY good, I recomment it!
I like 'If you want my love' AND 'She's tight'. I remember those being a few of the first videos I saw on MTV. They recently played 'If you want my love' on VH1 Classics last week.

I really like The Flame, but my favourite Cheap Trick song was near top 40 1980 hit "Everything Works if You Let It" :)

"The Flame" (1988) is the only one I know.
I still hear it semi-regularly on radio.
