Go West were great!

They were the British duo of Peter Cox and Richard Drummie. Their 1985 self-titled debut album sent 4 singles into the UK top 40 with Call Me, We Close Our Eyes, Goodbye Girl and Don't Look Down.  The album even became popular in America where We Close Our Eyes missed the top 40 by 1 spot and Call Me hit #54.  A third single Eye to Eye became a U.S. hit as well reaching #73

From their 1987 follow-up album Dancing on the Couch, they scored their first top 40 hit in America with Don't Look Down (The Sequel) and in 1990, they scored their greatest hit with King of Wishful Thinking from the film Pretty Woman.

In 1992, they took an Adult Contemporary approach with the album Indian Summer and scored three top 40 hits in the UK, two of which reached the U.S. charts: a cover of the 1979 Bobby Caldwell hit What You Won't Do For Love and the song Faithful, which became their third and final top 40 hit in America

1987 - I Want to Hear it From You
1987 - The King is Dead
1990 - The King of Wishful Thinking
1992 - Faithful
1992 - What You Won't Do For Love
1992 - Still in Love
1992 - Tell Me

"We Close Our Eyes" an absolutely classic, awesomely written song!

"Don't Look Down", "King of Wishful thinking" and "Faithful" were great too. Peter has a real nice voice.

Whistle, do you know where i could get full length videos?

I hope I don't offend anybody too much here...

I thought "We Close Our Eyes" was a quirky little number, but then I found the rest of the debut album lackluster.  Go West faded away Stateside until 1989, when they had a smash hit with the excruciatingly annoying "King of Wishful Thinking."  Later it dawned on me how much "We Close Our Eyes" resembles Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy" which I recently declared, on this board, one of the worst records ever made.

So, as for Go West, sorry, not a fan!

I voted for Call Me.  That song is just so catchy.  Loved the video with the 50 foot woman

'Call Me'.  A top, top tune by the boys in my opinion.

'We Close Our Eyes', 'One Way Street' and 'King Of Wishful Thinking' are all great songs though.

I would recommend the very hard to find and now deleted CD 'Bangs And Crashes' by Go West.  It features extended mixes of all their top tunes, and has a much better track selection as opposed to their debut album.

Be prepared to fight a long and dirty war on ebay for it though....I eventually got my copy for £18.50 gbp!!!  :o

'Bangs and Crashes' is indeed hard to find.  I don't think it was ever released here in North America, which is probably why I've never been able to find it.  lol  The closest I came was the 12" Indiscriminate Mix of "Call Me".  Found it at a Goodwill for 50 cents about a year ago  :o
