It's gotta be Kevin.  He made the show what it was :)

I also liked Paul Pfeiffer.  He was neat :)

I didn't like Wayne.  He was too much of a bully.  I wanted to just slap him  ;D

ya, and Winnie got on my nerves because it seemed like she only liked Kevin when there wasn't someone "better" for her! :(

I always compared Winnie with Veronica Lodge from Archie Comics.  Kevin seemed like the pawn in Winnie's chess board  :(

Was Karen the hippie sister? I liked her.

However, I couldn't stand Kevin's brother.

I picked Winnie. The writers did a great job with this character, because there was a girl like her in just about everybody's lives. Winnie reminds me of a girl I knew in 6th grade. Does this show make you guys sad? I watched it a few years ago, and got really bummed out. This show does a spectacular job at making you wish for your childhood back.

Yes, I totally agree! There is a great nostalgic theme throughout the entire show.

One of my all-time favorite urban legends is the one about how the kid who played Paul on the Wonder Years grew up to be Marilyn Manson.

Not as good as the urban legend that the kid who played Eddie Haskell grew up to be John "Johnny Wadd" Holmes.  Snopes only notes the Eddie Haskell--Alice Cooper myth, but I've heard Johnny Wadd, too!  Actually, Ken Osmond ("Eddie Haskell") became an LA cop and was wounded three times on duty.  Hey, if you got pulled over by Eddie Haskell, what would you do?  I wonder if his partner ever got sick of getting called "Lumpy."

Anyway, this ain't the '60s board, so...

OK, "Wonder Years,"
My favorite character was Paul, with his Coke bottle glasses and his skin breaking out in hives!  I couldn't stand Mr. Arnold, he was such a drip, and an azzh()le!

Yeah i like Karen the older hippie sister she was cool & also Kevin's older brother Wayne. He was a real jerk but he always made me laugh. Like when he bursts into Kevin's room with the vacium shouting "hamster patrol". It wasn't so funny when the hamster actually got sucked up though. He was such a butthead lol.

I like both Kevin and Winnie. I think they made such a cute couple. I also liked Karen and her husband Mike (?) I have to admit that I ended up crying when I watched the show where they got married-but that is only because they played "The Wedding Song" by Paul Stokey (of Peter, Paul & Mary fame).  That song ALWAYS makes me cry.  But like many had said, Wayne was annoying.

A friend of mine works in the entertainment industry and part of his job is to get actors and actresses to signed to their agency. One day Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper) had an appointment with my friend at the agency. He told me she is so shy, quiet, shows no emotion, that he turned her down to join the agency.  :(

As far as favorite, it's gotta be Wayne. You just can't have a show without someone being so stupid.

I chose Winnie Cooper, but most of the characers I really enjoyed and thought all were very unique and well written. I LOVED the Wonder Years. I even bought the 5 CD soundtrack to it about 10 years ago. I still try to catch it when I can, but they don't rerun it as regularly as they use to.

I really felt the same way when they said the dad had died. Even though he seemed like a disgruntled man and rather unhappy, when he'd break a smile, you knew it came from the bottom of his heart. It just seemed so unfair he had to die in the end. And then to not have Winnie and Kevin together - talk about really unfair!

Having Winnie and kevin not be together was perfect. The show was like real life. They ended up only being childhood sweethearts, and thats how it should be. Having them get married and live happily ever after would have been unrealistic.

TWY is my all-time favorite TV show, with its theme of nostalgia, of remembering a youth that has since passed into memory.  I could relate to so many of Kevin's experiences...failing a driver's test b/c of screwing up on parallel parking, first kiss, falling in love, troubles in junior high school, having a geeky best friend.  Plus the show had lots of great music.  When the hell are they gonna release TWY on DVD?!?

As for favorite character, I always liked Wayne.  Though he picked on Kevin constantly, he was also hilarious.

I was going to ask the same question. It's very worthy of a DVD release.

8)  Yep..The ending was so very sad and ..well.if you think about it...not all shows can end "HAPPY"...It was very touching and realistic in the fact that it didnt end all sweet!!...It made you really think and wish that things had been different...I still love it and it was an excellent show..

Jason Hervey, the kid that plays Wayne now works for a sport drink company with WWF's Eric Bishoff.  He made a guest appearance on the reality show "Hogan Knows Best" in the episode where Hulk wanted to franchise his name for products

Kevin Arnold. I got to meet a young 18 year old Fred Savage back in 1994 I think was the year. we were on a 7day cruise of the Mexican Riviera. The graduates from his High School class were on our cruise & I got to talk to him at the ships casino. He was really nice and surrounded by teenage girls. He was drinking champagne at the art gallery & auction with his cute lil' companions  ;D  as for the show, it was excellent. It was easy for people to relate to their lives & them growing up & what they went through everyday at home & school and play. What I think also made the show good was the constant narration by Daniel Stern as Kevin Arnold.

Yeah, he also played one of 1955 Lorraine's younger brothers in the first BTTF ("What'a rerun?"). I saw him interviewed on one of VH1's list countdown shows recently, and he doesn't look that different (other than bigger/older, of course).

As for the question: I can't really answer accurately. I've seen little bits of TWY over the years, but never knew it well enough to know any of the characters in detail. One thing I will say that struck me about the show is how convincing of a period piece it was. I sometimes almost forget it was made in the late 1980s, it seems almost like it could've came out of the actual late '60s/early '70s.

I have the final ep on video and whenever I am in need of a good cry - its the one I pull out to watch.

I have been waiting and waiting for a dvd reease of the series - its one of my all time favourites.

I didnt vote - simply because I thought every character was so well written and portrayed. And perfectly cast.

Does anyone agree that Barts friend Nelson and Kevins friend Paul were separated at birth  ;D

Being a typical bloke I voted for Winnie cooper because growing up as a teenager while it was on I fell in love with her.

I liked the relationship between her and Kevin.

It either somehow reminds you of a relationship you had or a relationship you wished to have had in high school.

The wonder years was a brilliant, ingenious and totallly enjoyable show for its time.

I loved that show when I was growing up, and still prefer Joe Cocker's version of "With a Little Help From My Friends."  (This coming from a die hard Beatles fan.)  Anyway, I voted for Paul.  I always thought he was kinda cute, and always seemed so sensible.

I voted for Winnie only because, as the previous poster said, she was the kind of girl who really was a 'girl next door' type. Growing up as a young kid in the late 1970's and early 1980's I had a good friend who was like Winnie in many ways...And she lived next door.

That being said, I always felt a connection with Karen because I always wished Id been around for the hippie/Woodstock movement so her character kind of lived my dream.

I hope this is released onto DVD one day...I know living in Australia I will be waiting longer than most of the world...But at least I have my copies from TV on VHS of the entire series.

His character's name was Mike. I must admit that I cried when they got married-only because they played Paul Stookie's (of Peter, Paul, & Mary fame) song, "The Wedding Song". I ALWAYS cry when I hear that song.
