Subject: Breathe - Poll
Written By: whistledog on 09/19/05 at 10:47 am
Breathe were a British pop trio from London that consisted of David Glasper (voice), Marcus Lillington (guitars) and Ian Spice (drums).
Here's chart positions ...
1988 - Hands to Heaven
1988 - Jonah
1988 - How Can I Fall?
1989 - Don't Tell Me Lies
1990 - Say Hello
1990 - Say A Prayer
1991 - Does She Love That Man?

Yeah I like a couple of their hits. :)
First time I heard "Hands to Heaven" was in the car with one of my babysitters (a chick who was then around 19) so to this day, that's what it reminds me of. Good song, though.
But my favorite was "How Can I Fall" - just a really melodic ballad and fun to listen to. "Don't Tell Me Lies" was a nice upbeat song - kinda like a more subdued new wave sound.
Not familiar with their other stuff, though, but I'll give the debut album another spin. From what I recall, the second side was actually alot better than the first.

OF COURSE!
There's a new fan site at www.geocities.com/wi/handstoheaven
Also, there are singles, b sides, and dance extended mixes to some of their songs on the 2 albums, and some unreleased material.
Rumor has it that their was material for a 3rd album, that was never released, like it was supposed to in 1994.
My favorites:
Hands To Heaven
Woman (Peace of mind album)
Say A Prayer
Any Trick (All that jazz album)
May Lightening Strike (unreleased on an album)
Don't Tell Me Lies - it's cute
They just got better and better as they evolved, both musically and vocally....lyrically, too.
Apparently, David is trying to get back into the scene. Check out www.80sxchange.com and look for the thread "Breathe/David Glasper" "Where are they now?"... you'll see what I mean.
Thanks!
Kristie

So, again, sorry guys about the faux pas.
Thanks, guys!

Sure I remember them! I have two copies of their CD, "All that Jazz" in my CD collection (both have different covers - so I'm not sure how I came across two different covers)
LOVED Hands to heaven, How can I fall, All that Jazz, Don't tell me lies - but Hands to heaven was my first exposure to them, and has become my fave song by them.

I loooove How Can I Fall. Hands to Heaven was cool. I'm still trying to figure out how Don't Tell Me Lies goes.

DaveB-
email Ian at ScallywagJazz@aol.com
Ian is in England, like you, and he can help you hopefully find the album single cd. I have the single, but from when it first came out....ON CASSETTE TAPE! lol
I know, it's like, what happens if the cassette tape breaks? Yikes!
I got a double CD of their dance mixes and unreleased tracks from him.
Don't worry. It's cool.
20 songs on it.
Hands To Heaven is on it, twice, a long version, and a dance version. Not the album version.
And the quality...my mom even commented on how good it sounded! LOL
Hey, Lil (Marcus Lillington, the guitarist, songwriter, keyboardist, all round guy extraordinaire!) posted on the fan site's guestbook, at www.angelfire.com/wi/handstoheaven. SO...he would have said no to the CDs, otherwise.
Hey, David and Marcus are welcome to me making them photo frames or albums (what I do for a living), in return. :) lol
That's them, not ya'll. lol :)

Didn't realise they were that old. All I remember is their 1998 song "Don't Stop The Revolution"

How Can I Fall.
That's the only one I remember from them and like. A good slow song. I hear it on the radio about once every three years.
