I have always loved that show.. Vicki Lawrence is a hoot.... I love IOLA best but I hate to admit it but I though Bubba was a hottie < once he lost the suspenders>.  Wonder what ever happened to Vints kids Buzz and Soina?  One day they sort just left, If they went to live with their mother, they never visit so thats weird... Mamas a trip... I think one of the funniest things AI have EVER seen on tele was Mama doing Dirty Dancing....... SO RICH. I watch the eppys still early in the AM on TBS...  anyone else love the show?

I never missed an episode of Mama's Family.  The episode where the Harpers went on Family Feud is my favourite all-time sitcom episode of any show  :)

One thing I never understood though was why Vint's kids were written out of the show at the end of the second season  :-\\  It was a good move though, becuase they brought in Bubba and I thought that guy was hilarious  ;D

Another good episode was where Mama became a contestant on Jeopardy

The Jeopardy episode was a classic.... I love when she comes in 2nd place and shes so sure she won the Lee Press on Nails... TOO FUNNY!!!!!! I ALWAYS LOVED THAT HOUSE THEY LIVED IN, SEEMED SO REAL AND HOMEY.... I would love to see a reunion show.....

I was just talking about this show two days ago and my little sister said its on early in the mornings. I hope to catch some episodes. This show was soooooooo funny. I also thought Bubba was cute.LOL.

I liked how they decided to kill off the Aunt Fran character.  Very original (she choked to death on a fishbone in the bathroom of the bigger jigger)  ;D

This show was great. I loved watching it.  I liked how Mama went after Venton. ;D

I got a kick out of Iola's hairstyle and fashion sense.  The 50's are over, and apparently no one told her  ;D

And how she never actually knocked on the door.  She'd cheerfully sing "Knock! Knock!"  ;D

I watched the Carol Burnett Show in the 70s where Mama got her start...I loved the show then but the spinoff..I Hated it...Vicki Lawrence is great but I just couldnt get past not seeing Carol...Tim..and Harvey...I m stuck on the original..

The pilot episode aired in March of '82.  After only 2 seasons (1983-1984), NBC made a stupid move and decided to cancel Mama's Family  :\'(

In June of 1986, those smart people at CBS picked up the show, and sold it for Syndication where it ran for an additional 4 years (1986-1990)  :) 

The new Mama's Family featured new cast changes:

- Aunt Fran died in the bathroom of the Bigger Jigger after choking on a toothpick
- Buzz and Sonja moved away to college and were never spoken of again
- Ed and Eunice moved to Florida, and ditched their ex-reform schooled son Bubba in the care of Thelma
- Iola Boylan, the friendly neighbour moves into the neighbourhood
- Ellen was written out of the show as well, but I can't remember how she left

  Yes,she was the only one look like a grandma and I will be voting for it to be released on DVD.. Such a funny show!  I wonder what happened to the rest of the cast?  I saw that someone actually bought one of the dresses that V Lawrence wore as Mama on Ebay.... Saw what appeared to be the final episode this morning, where Naomi has her baby in the RV and Mama delivers it.

That show had alot more stories to tell.  It's one of my favorites.

It's hard to believe, but the actress that played Iola, was the Marine Secretery on Major Dad.  Such different characters.
