Subject: E.T to become a sequel.
Written By: whitewolf on 07/21/05 at 12:54 pm
It was a good movie and I hope they don't ruin it with a bad sequel.

In todays society, everybody a critic! We know this... :-\\ >:( :-* ;D
People aren't as forgiving as they were in the 1980's or even during the pre - 80's. Especially, when it comes to movies and music. People today are more wiser and knowledgable as to what they really like. And for todays moviegoers, you have to come correct!
So, for some film Director to come along, and darefully take on the task to direct a sequel of probably one of the greatest family movies ever made in history, you know he is going to have a huge amount pressure put upon him by critics, major moviegoers, die-hard fans of the movie E.T., and probably, the worst of all, himself: self-criticism . It better be a GREAT sequel, not just good or ok. Because, If thats the case he or she just wasted thier time as well as ours.  ÂÂ
But for the most part ,I would love to a GREAT E.T. 2 sequel... BY STEVEN SPEILBERG!!... no other film Director please! :)ÂÂ

Is it just me or does it seem Hollywood is completely out of ideas? With all the remakes of 60's and 70's sit coms into big screen fare and all the prequels and what not...nothing is new anymore.
Not sure I'd go to see a new E.T. I guess I liked the original. Don't hate it but it's not one of my favourites but I'm not sure I want to see what they do with it. Just like I'm not so sure I'm looking forward to a sequel to Sixteen Candles. I just pray they leave The Breakfast Club alone. It ain't broke so don't even try to fix it

I remember on an interview that Tom Cruise said something that "War of the Worlds" is basically "ET: Gone Gangsta"... ::)

Where could they go with this? E.T. is cruising the galaxy with his grandkids and swings down to earth for a slushy, visits a Comic-Book-Guyish looking Elliot in the psych-ward? I mean come on, there is nowhere else to take this story.
Wake up Hollywood!!!! >:( Who wants to pay good money to see something that is available on the dollar shelf at the local video rental?

"In the new film, E.T. would meet up with his now-adult friend Elliott in a desperate bid to save his alien race from being wiped out."

::) *sigh* here we go again. Yet another classic 80s movie that will be bastardised by trying to bring an old concept into this era in a sad attempt to cash in on something that was successful in the past. Please no more sequels prequels & remakes. I hear they are doing remakes or new versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rock N Roll Highschool & The Warriors.
"War of the Worlds" is basically "ET: Gone Gangsta"... LMFAO that's sad & pathetic, but it's so funny. He actually managed to entertain me with that comment. Now all he has to do is do that for an hour & a half on screen.

Maybe they could have ET return to earth as a universe cop, who's alien wife was killed by the alien bad guys, and now he is an alien maverick, loose-canon detective who plays by his own universal rules, tracks them down and kills then in some horrific way, winning the love of his enstranged child at the end. Now how is that for original!? ???
