Subject: Debbie Gibson "Foolish Beat"...ranked #3 on "VH1 Awesomely Bad Breakup Songs"
Written By: Maddie's The Boss on 07/09/05 at 5:30 pm
What!?!?!, I can't believe that the idiots from VH1 would put Debbie Gibson's 1988 classic "Foolish Beat" as the 3rd worst Breakup Song! >:( :(
That song made her the youngest artist to write, produce, & record a #1 hit, which I doubt that any pop bimbo could do today.

How can anyone call this song the worst breakup song? That song will go down in history as the only young artis to write, produce and record a number 1 hit. What the hell is going on around here? No one can achieve what she's done. Not even bimbos like Britney Spears. God she's crap.

No talent bimbo B.S. was on the list, thankfully don't know the song... :D
But she wasn't on the top 10 >:(

Same here (which I get so much stick about from my friends, LOL). :)
Seriously though, I completely agree with this - I love "Foolish Beat". It mixes 80's pop with that semi sad/romantic sound (which is timeless) perfectly. It almost could've come out 10 years before it actually did -- ALOT of those kinds of songs were big in the latter 70s -- and connected just as much.
I also never hear it on the radio anymore, which is a shame.

It gets played on my local radio station nearly every night. It does a "Love Hour" between 11-12 where it plays some of the best love songs and Deborah Gibson's "Foolish Beat" was played because I rang up and requested it. It's still a fantastic song. It's one of these songs that doesn't go out of date which is great.

The only time I hear Deb is on the radio is on an soft rock station, and only one song ("Lost In Your Eyes")
And too much Phil Collins... ::)
Some of his songs are good, but not played constantly

I've never heard "Lost in Your Eyes" at all on the radio here - maybe it's a little different at certain stations across the country. Even the stations from Sacramento (where I lived in the early-mid 90's - I can still pick a few of them up on a good day here) vary a bit from the Bay Area ones.
BTW I've gotta say I've always been a Phil Collins fan but I know what you mean about the stations playing the same songs of his (it's always "In the Air Tonight" or "One More Night" and sometimes "You Can't Hurry Love"). "Sussudio" and "Don't Lose my Number" were big hits - a little rockier than his normal style - yet I NEVER hear those anymore! ;)

I think the song is not bad, better than anything Ashlee Simpson has done recently....  ::)
But then again then this is VH1 we are talking about. ::)

What breakup songs does everyone here consider to be awesomely bad here?
My pick, Blame It On The Rain by Milli Vanilli.
