Subject: Anybody know the name of this movie?!
Written By: Izod on 06/24/05 at 9:04 pm
I saw this on cable in like '82 or '83. I remember in the movie vehicles are prohibited. A guy burries his race car (in peices) underneath his garage floor. Some 20 years later he assembles it back together & drives on the abandoned streets. :-\\

Is it "The Last Chase" (1981) starring Lee Majors and Burgess Meredith?

Just read the description on IMDB.com - sounds like something I'd be into (I like alot of "cheesy", B-movies that most people don't like/haven't heard of). ;D
I couldn't find an exact date, but there was a comment in the reviews section - something along the lines of "Siphoning gas from pumps abandoned 40 years earlier." That means if it started in the present (1981) the future would be arond the early 2020's.
From the cover art, it clearly looks to be an alternate type of sci-fi future many movies often do. ;)
Anyone know anything more about this?

"The Last Chase" is a VERY VERY cheesy, low budget made for TV/Cable movie. I have seen it. Many technical errors. Burgess Meredith flying aroung in a black(?) jet. I believe it was an F-86 Sabre jet(Korean war vintage). I guess the props department couldn't spring for anything more modern. I think he wore a black leather flying suit which looked WW 2 vintage. The special effects weren't very special.
This will probably upset a few humans, but I calls 'em as I seez 'em. ;)

Just got the tape in the mail today. The reason the jet was out-dated was because of the story - they no longer made any gas/fuel powered vehicles/planes so they had to fix up an older fighter jet. But you're correct about the special effects - especially during the end where the jet crashes into the laser shooter. Overall though it's a great movie, & it was awesome to see it again! :)
