It was...a very good field that year, with Gigliola Cinquetti's beautiful 'Si' (re-recorded as 'Go' for the English speakers) in there as well...

Britain spoiled it a bit with Livvy's insipid 'Long Live Love'...

I had a rummage through some books and found that Sweet Sensation were a New York girlie trio from the late 80s/early 90s - they had several US hits, including a #1 in 1990 ('If Wishes Came True'), and although they did do a number called 'Let Me Be The One', I can't see any trace of it being released as a single...phew!

But hang on...there was another US girlie trio who did have a hit single with 'Let Me Be The One' - which was Expose in 1987...same song?

In the Netherlands they were known as New York's Sweet Sensation (probably to avoid any confusion), and "If wishes came true" never made it into our Top 40 (stranded somewhere between #50 and #70). Don't know about any other singles here. I suppose there has been a follow up....but it's not in the books.
