Boy, 1980 is the hardest "80's" year for me to remember what was playing on the radio.  It seems that year was, of course, a mix of the fading 70's and the emerging 80's. The fading 70's would include the Eagles, Pink Floyd, Captain and Tennille, and a load of other fading bands. However, that was the year Pat Benatar, Air supply, Christopher Cross and Tom Petty started making their way to the charts. Some of my favorites from that year would be;

Refugee - Tom Petty
Heartbreaker - PAt Benatar
Long way home - Supertramp
Don't do me like that - Tom Petty
Cars - Gary Numan

Even though I'm not a huge Christopher Cross fan, I like his first single, 'Ride Like the Wind', which came out in '80.  Another favorite song of mine from that year is 'I'm Alright' by Kenny Loggins from the film Caddyshack.  :)
