'Sussudio' or 'You Can't Hurry Love' by Phil Collins, how could he have gone from one of the great bands of the 70s to that? :)

Worst song of the 80s? That's like picking the winner of a beauty pageant. Although last week I think I saw a music video late one night called 'I know what boy's want' (something like that) by the Waitresses (1982). It basically repeated the same few lines throughout the entire song.

He actually had 5 Solo Hits in the 80's :)
I don't really hate any songs of the 80's, but if I had to pick one, it would be "Be Good Johnny" by Men at Work. Back in 1982, it was a Top 20 hit here in Canada. Somehow the States escaped the pain of the song, as it did not chart at all on Billboard >:(

"My Sharona" by the Knack is from 1979, but it's the first "new wave" hit so I consider it '80s, and a sucky one at that.

"My Sharona" is pretty lame. "Rock Lobster" and "Cars" are way better.

OK, I guess I have to throw in on this...(girding up in musical armor...grabbing the nearest musical weapon, that being the "Wongo King" guitar, by Sweagle...)
To the ones who picked on Peter Gabriel, Men At Work and Journey- I happen to enjoy all 3 of those artists, and I hereby declare that you must be Whitney Houston lovers, and must be banished from the Kingdom of the '80s, forthwith! Have at you, knaves!!!!!!
Oh, yeah, and my vote for the worst songs of the '80s lie in a 3-way tie:
"Tarzan Boy", by Baltimora (C'mon, it was used in Listerine commercials!!!!!)
-"Take the Skinheads Bowling", by Camper Van Beethoven (What was the POINT of that whole song?!?)
-"How Will I Know", by Whitney Houston ('Nuff said!)

Thank you for agreeing with me that this song is both overrated, irritating and mediocre... ;) Except when you're on the dance-floor, and you've drunk too much! ;)

A few of CC Catch's songs that I heard on YouTube- I officially don't like her music after listening to 4 or 5 of her songs
A few Modern Talking songs as well- Officially don't like their music either after hearing a good portion of their songs on YouTube

I have 3 other nominees for this category:
-anything by Don Johnson
-Take My Breath Away, by Berlin (Preferred "The Metro")
-Walk Of Life, by Dire Straits (They tried to hard, and sounded like Bruce Springsteen- not a promotional bellringer, here!!!)

"Heartbeat" by Don Johnson gets my vote for one of the worst songs.
Another song I don't really like is "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" by Glenn Medeiros, is also a song I don't really care for.
But none of them are as nearly as bad as "Boom Boom Boom (Let's Get Back To My Room), now that is a bad song.

Tiffany "I Saw Him Standing There" and "Could've Been"
I don't mind "I Think We're Alone Now", but her voice was awful, though now slightly better
And don't want to know if she has an estranged daughter who plays the candy counter girl on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" ::)

I liked Whitney Houston's old stuff - everything after 1991 stank.
I like 'I think we're alone now' is great too from a girl just old enough to use tampons.
Oh man! This reminds me of a Bill Hick's rant about late 80s music I would quote it here but it's just too wrong, lol.

Man, Whitney Houston is a skank-ho who bags her face!!!!!
She was only popular because she flooded the market with her soulless slush, and wangled the rights to re-do Dolly Parton's classic song- which Whitney butchered!!!!!
(This insults my mother, who was the top Dolly Parton Lookalike Entertainer in the world, at one time!)
I wouldn't listen to Whitney Houston if you paid me!!!!
I got 2 words for Whitney Houston: Jody Watley.

I like 'I wanna dance with somebody (who loves me)' and 'How will I know' . . . 'The Greatest Love of all' was pretty good too. Not too fussed on the rest though.

"Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham! was pretty bad.
Very true, but "Father Figure" was much, much worse.
Also, I think it is shallow and short-sighted to say you hate a particular band's whole music library. Now, I will agree there were many individual songs that missed the mark. I have a few dislikes myself: "The Living Years" Mike & The Mechanics, the oft mentioned "Sussudio" - Phil Collins, "We Are The World".....

Well, c'est la vie, man!
It's a free country, and you can like who you wish.
If you dig Whitney.....Houston, then GO FER IT!
Don't let the fact that she butchered several songs, and had the ego the size of Alaska ruin it for you.
I just can't stand how she insulted Dolly Parton (and to a lesser extent, my mother), by caterwauling a horrendous version of Dolly's classic, and then having the nerve to say, "Oh, it honors me to do Dolly's song!", when she publicly trashed Dolly, prior to the remake.
-Oh, and yes. One more song to toss into the mix- "Little Red Corvette", by Prince.
Surprising, conidering I like the majority of his/her/its stuff.
