Freddie Mercury for his voice and for some awesome songwriting.
Boy George for the beautiful, brave and honest human being that he is, and for some very moving, beautiful songs.
Brian Mannix for being cute and crazy and cracking me up.
All of the above were/are amazing performers and a great insipiration to me.8)

As much as I enjoyed some of their songs (Patience, Knocking On Heaven's Door, Live & Let Die) I never went much on the voice. Personal opinion, of course, ech to their own.....

Crap I totally forgot Michael McDonald who would be right up there at the top spot! His Sweet Freedom album always makes my top 10 albums from the 80s.
Vocally I like Kenny Loggins too, but his music for me never did the voice justice.

Paul Carrack (Mike and the Mechanics)
No argument there. As a solo artist, he was awesome, and in Mike + the Mechanics, he was excellent, but I kind of prefered Paul M. Young more as the vocalist for the Mechanics. 'All I Need is A Miracle' and the seemingly forgotten 1991 classic 'Word of Mouth' are still amazing!

I thought the song went "Ooh it takes every kinda putters, to make what putts about" or the classic "I didn't mean to hole in one". How about "Top Flite's always running around, trying to find Titleist" :D

1981 when the band first signed to EMI. :) I think that particular photo was taken outside of his parent's house in Bushey. :)

That could be it. A lot of people get kind of thrown off by anything that makes someone that's well known look different. Times have changed a lot and Simon has changed his looks over the years. :) Or it could be the eye makeup that threw you off too. :)
