Geez, where do I start? I don't think I could easily do this post justice. From the songs on the list, I went with "Out of Touch" - great upbeat song! Techno meets pop/rock you can dance to. :)
They're probably in my Top 10 of alltime favorite artists (at least their 1980-84 stuff). We had the early hits collection 'Rock & Soul Part 1' and Big Bam Boom when I was a kid, so I listened to them my whole life.
I always preferred their more upbeat material - it just sounded so positive and happy - "Kiss on My List" is a perfect example.
As a sidenote, it seems to me they're more thought of as an R & B or a pop act, but they don't get credit for their rock & roll side - "Adult Education", "Family Man" and the Survivor-ish "Did it in a Minute" all rock pretty hard (for them).

Where is "You Make My Dreams"?? I loved how they put that on The Wedding Singer. I think it's one of their most upbeat songs. Also, I love the bridge on "You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin." I clap along to it everytime.

The closest I know of was Simply Red's 2003 hit Sunrise which used a heavy sample of that song

You're absolutely right.
That HALL AND OATES sample on Sunrise was used to great effect.

Yep, and I think that the recent 'Out Of Touch' remix wasn't too bad. They played the original at a club recently, so if remixes make DJ's dig out originals....well I'm all for that!! :)
