Subject: Excellent! 80s retro sounding music is gaining new ground

Just saw this video on VH-1 Mega Hits. My wife commented that if she hadnt' been watching the video, she'd have sworn it was something from the 80s. The group is called "The Bravery" and the video is a cool Rube Goldberg type of thing, in black and white, with all the yellow objects in yellow.

The Killers and the Scissor Sisters also have a great 80s feel to them as well (and both toured with Duran Duran last year if I'm not mistaken). So can anyone point out some new bands with a throwback sound?

There is a TON of 80s influenced stuff out there. All the music on the OC, and on alternative stations is highly influenced by the 80s.
If you like this kind of stuff ( I am a fan), you should check out the Futureheads and Stella Star as well. I just saw the Futureheads in SF at Slims, and they were great. Skinny ties and everything.

I like "No, not now" by Hot Hot Heat. I haven't heard any of their other stuff, but this song was in the UK charts a few months ago & struck me as being very 80s-sounding. I'd like to see a return to more 80's-like music, not just 'cos I was a teenager in those years. A lot of the chords (or dischord, in some cases!) appeal to me, I like a good synth~ it just seems to me that the whole style of 80s music was far more exciting than most of the mediocre rubbish about nowadays...

Now they just need to bring back the mullet, or, as I like to call it, the "Missouri Compromise."
