I sorta know that one...it's a cover of a Smokey Robinson & Miracles classic from the 1960's.
But "Bette Davis Eyes" is probably her most popular recording.

You might have a point there, krakboi. ;D
I love 'Bette Davis Eyes' but I also like 'Invisible hands' and 'Crazy in the night'.

Nally, love your pic. Shakira is the best female singer EVER! ;)
I like one Kim Carnes song. That one she did with Kenny Rogers. Was it "Don't fall in love with a dreamer"? It was pretty. But I like Kenny Rogers songs, they were always pretty. He had some of the best slowies in the early 80s.

Don't know, but English p**s-take band, Half Man, Half Biscuit did a version of it, called "Dickie Davies eyes":
"Mention the Lord of the Rings just once more,
And I'll more than likely kill you.
"Moorecock, Moorecock, Michael Moorecock"
you fervently moan.
Is this a wok that you sholve down my throat,
Or are you just pleased to see me?
Brian Moore's head looks uncannily like London Planetarium.
Chorus:
And all those people
Who you, romantically,
Like to still believe are alive,
Are dead!
So I'll wipe my snot
On the arm of your chair
As you put another Roger Dean poster
On the wall.
God, I could murder a Cadbury's Flake,
Then I guess you wouldn't let me into heaven.
Or maybe you would 'cause their adverts promote oral sex!
A Romani bint in a field with her paints,
Suggesting we faint at her beauty,
But she's got "Dickie Davis Eyes!" "
And yes, even though I like her voice, she did sound a bit like Rod Stewart on that song- better than looking like him, I suppose...

Thank you, that sounds just like what I was thinking of.

Wow, for once my retention of inane facts (and bizarre tases in music) have actually been of use to someone! Glad to be of service...

Shakira's alright, but she'll have to come along way to achieve the vocal talents of Mariah Carey. Man she can sing and she's also a babe too.

There's a show here in Canada called "Back in 19XX" where they chronicle the best and worst of each year. The episode they did for 1981, they mentioned Kim Carnes as a one hit wonder, simply because no single she had ever triumphed the success of "Bette Davis Eyes" on the Billboard Charts.
As a lover of all chart hits, that pissed me off so much, that I almost e-mailed the TV channel. They should check their facts before they tell them on national TV. According to the Billboard Charts, Kim Carnes appeared on a total of 18 hits in the 80's. 9 of those were Top 40. Sounds like a one hit wonder to me ::)
1980 | Don't Fall in Love With A Dreamer
1980 | More Love
1980 | Cry Like A Baby
1980 | Deep Inside My Heart
1981 | Bette Davis Eyes
1981 | Draw of the Cards
1981 | Mistaken Identity
1982 | Voyeur
1982 | Does it Make You Remember
1983 | Invisible Hands
1984 | You Make My Heart Beat Faster
1984 | I Pretend
1984 | What About Me
1984 | Make No Mistake, He's Mine
1985 | Invitation to Dance
1985 | Crazy in the Night
1985 | Abadabadango
1986 | Divided Hearts

No, he never did, but some other parodist(s) probably did.

I do like some of her songs-Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer, I'll Be Here Where the Heart Is (from Flashdance), and Voyeur. But, I absolutely DISPISE the song Bette Davis Eyes. That is one of the few songs that I can say that really, really hate.

You're not alone.
I do and have always like her 1980 version of "More Love". Its quirky little intro was soooo cool when that song came out ;D

Bette Davis Eyes was exceedingly popular when I was a kid. I hated it back then. Now I dig it, I dig it a lot! You wouldn't think so, but I'm quirky that way. You can never be quite sure what I'm going to think...
Who did the song "Marty Feldman Eyes"? I remember it, but not well. Marty Feldman was a big loss to comedy. He died in 1982, failing to follow general wisdom: DO NOT ORDER SCALLOPS IN MEXICO CITY!
:o
Back in '93, when Reagan's daughter posed for Playboy, I was thinking of Patti Davis Thighs. Never got so far as lyrics....
