mmm, real nostalgia here. Howard Jones' "New Song" is one of my nominees, and Yazoo's "Don't Go" as well. :(
The hook of "Media Man" (Flash'n'the Pan) would sound tacky in any other context, but with the deadpan "phone voice" and deliberately flat tone of the synth, it's just cool.
Fattest 80s non-black bassline: "Love Like Blood" (Killing Joke, 1985)

"Broken Wings" from Mister Mister was the worst song to come out of the 80's. I preffered "Kyrie". Have to agree on Europe's "The Final Countdown".

The intro to "I Am" by the Uncanny X-men. Love the X-men, I even quite like the song, but that synth line makes me cringe almost every time I hear it! And on the 12" it goes for twice as long -ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!

Er.............yes. That's another annoying song. The 12" version seems to go on forever.

It maybe a classic, but to me it's nothing but overrated.
