cool I'll have to check it out. I have to watch 976-Evil again. I have recorded it off cable a long time ago. only watched the 1st half of it ...didnt care for the movie much though. I thought Monkey Shines was funny. I havent seen that in a loooooong time. Can't believe I forgot about The Hidden. I wanted to mention Silent Night Deadly Night but I wasnt sure if it came out in the late 70's or 80's. I luv the 1st one and the one about the witches (think it was pt.IV).
The rest of em suck 8)

I agree with this.
70's and 80's (and early/mid 90's) horror movies were alot "scarier" than today. Nowadays it's more "lite horror" -- which I do like, but it's not as flat out scary IMHO. I think Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer ushered in that trend.
Cujo scared me when I saw it on TV about 10 years ago. Same with the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead.

Cheerleader Camp is definitely a cheesy horror film.

yes there were some cheesy ones, but there was a certain graininess to 80's horror that has been somewhat lost on more recent ones.
They weren't afraid to be gross and horrifying, like a lot of studios are now.

Does anyone rememeber the 50's remake of the blob? That was cheesy but I like it. I just bought Creep Show fo 5 at WalMart and Polergist. I watched it with my daughter and she thought it wasn't scary. It really wasn't now but when I first saw it, it creeped me out. I was a big fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street secquals until they gat stupid. Pet Cemetery was late 80's. Does anyone remember Ghost Story? or the Changling? :o

Yeah the Blob remake was cheesy but very 80's horror too. The minister creeped me out in that one.
The Changeling was a great scary movie. It really relied on the scare that story driven, not through gore. Which is hard to do.

Question for horror buffs...
There was a scary movie where it was a group of mutant type people all living in the same house. The caretaker was a woman who looked normal who all the mutants depended on like a mother figure. If memory serves, the scene I sort of remember is a guy who also seems normal (on the outside anyway) bringing his girlfriend there. And in order for her to survive she must pretend to want to nurture the other mutants b/c I believe she murders the caretaker.
Any ideas?

When I was a teen, I stayed over at a friend's house and there was about 5 of us there. We rented Sleepaway Camp and that ending scared the living hell out of everyone there. My friend told me it almost "scared him off of girls", even. Kinda funny to think about nowadays but it certainly did its job by freaking us out!
