Even though it wasn't released in the uk as a single, "Human Nature" was a superb hit before SWV got their grubby little hands on it.

I think 'Will You Be There' is pretty awesome too, but I wouldn't say it was my favourite of all-time. I would place 'Who Is It' as my personal favourite MJ song of all-time. Actually, I think the whole 'Dangerous' album is probably my favourite MJ album he's ever made.

No, Stevie Wonder sung Enoby and Ivory with McCartney. Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson (Mack and Jack) sung The Man, The Girl Is Mine and Say, Say, Say together.

The guitar riff is awesome, played by Steve Stevens. I also love the screaming at end. "SHAAAAMONE!!!" I love it when Michael lets go and just scream the adlibs out. I saw him live in 1997, I was absolutely blown away! He sung Earth Song and after the song was finished he did about 2 minutes of unscripted, unaccompanied ad-libs. It was just him! It was the best thing I had ever seen!

I think I heard about that on VH1's Behind the Music episode for the year 1984, so it must've been then, but I can't recall the month offhand.

As for the topic, I loved most of the songs listed (not a huge overall fan, but liked the stuff mainly from the Thriller and Bad albums). I'm torn between "Beat it" -- loved the fun, upbeat rhythm along with the Eddie Van Halen guitar solo -- and "Human Nature," which I've always loved, even though it was never popular - one of those "pretty, but not quite a ballad" pop songs. ;)

I'll make no bones about it, 'Thriller' was a great LP (barring that horrible duet) and from it, I've gone for 'Billie Jean' - a very influential 'groove' for its time...

So how do you follow that? With difficulty...'Bad' was exactly that and more and really started his slide into mediocrity...

It would have to be Human Nature.
The only way to explain how moving the lyrics and rhyme are you have to hear it for yourself..  He puts so much emotion into his songs and in this particular song you can feel the words dancing in the air.. pure genius..

I liked his earlier stuff as well as the 80's.  I down loaded Thriller video fro my 12 yo doughter and she said" Micheal Jackson's really black?"  I died laughing. ;D

Wasn't it just Billie Jean with different lyrics? I remember when he did Pespsi commercials around the time of Thriller, he sung Billie Jean with different lyrics for the ads, and when he did the commercials around the Bad era, he sung Bad with different lyrics.

Well, talking about Michael Jackson the musician here, I'm really into his stuff from this era - we had Thriller and Bad since I was a kid.

I picked "Beat it" - not only is it a very feelgood song (despite being about gang-fighting!) but I tend to like genres of music crossing. Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo makes this pop song rock pretty hard.

Otherwise, I'm so glad to see "Human Nature" on here! :)  I always loved that one (sometimes, as much as I love "Billie Jean", when I only had a tape of Thriller, I couldn't wait for it to end just 'cause I wanted to hear this so much). Very melodic pop - kinda upbeat but relaxed at the same time.

For me, I'll go with

"Rock With You" (from a 1979 album but on the charts in 1980)
"Human Nature" (I see others like it too)

Human Nature was his last good song. Before he started losing his mind and messin' with his face.

I guess the fall and decline of MJ started sometime in or after 1984?  :(
