My mom was always buying cereal at the health food store (bleh!)  I always loved sleeping over at my friends's houses though because that usually meant I was going to eat some tastey cereal with a crapload of sugar.  Smurf Berry Crunch was good.  So good, that I would consider eating a box from the 80s if it were sealed.

Cocoa Puffs and Cocoa Pebbles - basically anything with chocolate in it  :)

The cereal I have the fondest memories of from back then is probably Strawberry Shortcake. It made the milk yummy and pink. I even had a Blueberry Muffin bowl (still have it) that I only used for that specific cereal and for ice cream. Anything else would have ruined the flavor for me in my little kiddie head.

Nintendo Cereal! I was five and we went to New Hampshire, and there it was at the Shop and save. Also highlighted on that trip was that we also got Slimer Hi-C. Life was good!

I was a winner of the "Where's the Cap'N" contest.  I'll never forget when I got a check for $100 in the mail.  The first thing I bought was a "Ghostbusters" cartridge for my Atari 2600.  ($30!)

My dad liked to get Shredded Wheat.  I always thought he did that to punish me.

ok here are a few more that I remembererd and/or stumbled across:

Nerds Cereal (it was double bagged and one side was grape and the other was strawberry)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cereal (similiar to chex with marshmallow TMNT's)

Morning Funnies ( It was little fruity happy faces, I think. On the back of the box it had a couple of comic strips like Beetle Bailey and Luann and a few others. I read the back of the box every time I ate the cereal, and each month or so, they brought out a new box with new comics)

Hot Wheels Cereal ( It was just like Lucky charms, but the oats were wheels and the marshmallows were cars)

Cinnamon Mini Buns (They were miniature cinnamon mini-buns. The commercial had a cinnamon tornado that would sprinkle cinnamon on every bun)

OJ Cereal (It stood for orange juice cereal. the commercial went "O.J, round 'um up, let's keep those ...." It was supposed to be like the west. It was small orange balls and yellow cereal. Around 1986)

Pop Tarts Crunch (80's or early 90's: There was a strawberry variety and a chocolate variety. These were mini-Pop Tart cereal pieces)

Sprinkle Spangles (Puffed stars that each had a few sprinkles on them)


There are sooo many more...but I thought that these were worthy of mentioning!!

The 80's were the best times when it came to cereal....my sister's and I would literally fight over who got to fish out the nifty prize in the box.....well nowadays...they don't even have prizes hardly.....i always hated whenever I would see this awesome item on the back of the box...only to find that you have to freakin' send away for it!!!! I had the pleasure meeting the Captain Crunch, of late-70s 2600Hz whistle fame.  Was so pumped from shaking hands  with one of my childhood geek idols that I went home and ate a whole box of the cereal, turning my palate into raw mouthbeef for two days, and by Dobbs, it was worth it.

Cookie Crisp. It was my favorite for years, until I got tired of it, in the mid 90's, I think. My second favorite was Captain Crunch. Does anyone remember that Golden Crisp rip-off, that I think was called Honey or Sugar Smacks, or something, with the lizard, instead of the bear?
