Did this year live up to the other 80s years or was it somehow inferior the way 1999 is the earlier 90s years?

1989 was one of the best years of my life.

After a couple of ropey years ('86 & '87) this (and '88) weren't half-bad...
This was the first year I went to Czechoslovakia just before the communist rule collapsed...and talk about cheap! A night in the top hotels in Prague at the time wouldn't even have come to the price of a round of drinks...
As as for the price of a round of drinks out there...!!

can't really remember 1989, but as a New Jack fan, 89 was great. One of my favorite songs ever, Chuckii Booker "Turned Away" came out that year. Every few days i find myself playing that song in my head.
